What I love about Leesville:

Although a work in progress, I love the downtown mainstreet area. When I drive, or walk through downtown, I can't help but think this is mainstreet USA, and it is RIGHT HERE in my town, in OUR town. No doubt that there are areas that need help, but watching the transformation through this city is one of the things that I hold dear to my heart.

I love that we have wonderful greenery around the city. Not every city in this country can boast the amount of green that we have. This is not a concrete jungle. Wake up in the morning, listen to the birds, look at the flowers, take a deep breath and smell that fresh air.

The small community here makes it feel like home. How many times do walk into a store, a restaurant and run into someone you know? This doesn't happen in every other city out there!

Fort Polk, what can I say? I am patriotic. There is a sense of patriotism I feel about seeing soldiers daily and being able to thank them for their service. Working for and with soldiers, families and kids is one of the greatest feelings of pride that I feel daily, and not every city has that.

Not everyone here in Leesville treats soldiers disrespectfully, not every person in politics is corrupt, and not everything in this city is wrong. if we allow ourselves to continually think that way, then it will be all that we see. Rather than complain about it, make an effort to do something about it. Volunteer, visit downtown, and be apart of the community. Make an effort to help with the positive change in this community, and you too, can make a difference.

As JFK once stated "ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country"

I have to agree with Tom Pain. I have seen a big improvement all around Vernon Parish. I realy like the new street lights at the circle. And I love the Fruitless Pears trees when in bloom and in the fall. I also think that Ft. Polk is such a beautiful place. It is landscaped so preaty. I'm very proud to be living here.

I love our Sheriff, Mr. Craft. He is a great and honest man who is trying to clean up the community of drugs that are destroying families. I have known the man for years. He is a man of faith and compassion. I along with all of you hear rumours all of the time. That's exactly what they are. Rumours! I have lived in many different parishes with elcted sheriffs. Mr. Craft is the perfect exapmle of what a good sheriff should be! He will always have my vote and I hope that he remains in office for the entirety of my life!

Ok... I do like the fact they get the prisoners out to pick up trash off the highways, etc.(Could have them go up 171 & Entrance Rd. 3xs a week!) Now, if some people driving trucks (contractors) would make sure trash didn't fly out the back, that'd be great...

Ok so you like him , but let me ask you this .

Do you remember when we had to vote for the law bill so he could keep paying his deputies and also the building of a new shierffs office?

If so where is the pay for the new deputies and when is the construction going to start on the new office ?

Yeah he's doing a bang up job, can't blame him for not following up on charges for a local doctor stealing one of his patrol cars, and then only firing the deputy after he was charged with a sex crime and just when is that case going to hit the court ?

Yeah he's a real fine shierffs !!

The new jail facility goes out for public bid later this month. Sheriff Craft does a good job.

"Its better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubts." The sheriff have nothing to do with scheduling court appearances. According to your rants, your own rants, the sheriff, Mr. Sam Craft, have acted honorably and discharge his responsibility quite appropriately! Dummy.

What are you insinuating with your unintelligent guess? Pat Williams has a track record of constructing major projects, so why should you have a problem with him successfully bidding on the projects? You had a chance to go to school, its not Pat Willimas fault you chose to pick par-tat-toes instead. You wanted to plant field peas and mustard greens, and Pat Williams went to school.

I know this is off-topic but Pat Williams needs to mow his property on S. 10th Street.

So did you call Pat Williams and/or his office and ask when the grass was going to be cut? He may need some help.

Oh, I forgot, that's what a good neighbor would do.

Once upon a time, I loved the small town of Leesville and rural areas that it serves. I loved the small town atmosphere and the histories associated with it.

It's great to have the Army close because I like being able to meet people with different backgrounds and experiences. I love the people who volunteer to their communities with hopes to make it a better place to live. Despise the good ole boys - you know who they are?

I love the pear trees that were planted along the highway. I like the traffic circle - wish everyone knew how to use it.

I like the wild flowers that bloom from the tree-lines and stretch out toward the road sides. I love the rolling hills and the smell of fresh cut pine. Smells like money. But that's hard to come by in that area because of lack in opportunities resulting from the good ole boy politics.

I love the lake landscapes. They can be sooo beautiful that they look like masterpiece oil paintings - that come to life with the water fowls. I thought that I would die there but I won't because of the good ole boy politics.

I love the museum but that lacks appropriate management. I love the local library - its one of the best Parish Libraries that I've visit in the State. The staff is great and very helpful.

There are lots of things about the area that people can proudly call it their home. Sorry I will not die there....wish the good ole boy mentality would.
