Is it a conflict of for Christiona lord to sit on the civil service board with her and her family have unsettling experiences with the city police to the point that her father was areested? Can she really be unbiased in her decisions with the bad tatse her father and family have had for LPD and Hickman?? Why hasn't anyone questioned this before?

Yes it is, family is family and no matter what you say, when it comes down to what a person thinks no one can tell you other then that person.

If that person has a gruge then you really think they will tell you if they want to be you back ?

and it has been questioned but only here on topix.

Did anyone go on the Historic Commission's "Tour of Homes" earlier in the week?

Interesting that the tour included two of Robert Rose's buildings along with Christina Lord's new offices. And if I'm not mistaken, was Christina Lord's residence on the tour last year? Of course, the Historic Commission is chaired by Lynne Beard, Robert Rose's sister.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

So what you are saying is, that it is hard to tell where the Roses end and the Lords begin??

Well yeah, that too. But what I'm sayin' is that although the Rose adminstration and its rabid supporters are always preachin' about how "it's not like the bad old days when the good ole boys ran everything," I'm sayin' "It's EXACTLY like the bad old days." It's just a different group of 'good ole boys (and gals)' this time 'round. But the pattern hasn't changed one bit.

Except that they are not just lining there own pockets they are bringing about growth in the city. And I'm not talking about planting some trees and flowers. Where were you guys when instead of money being spent on infrastructure, it went to "beautify" the city.

Growth? Where?

I assume you're talking about the pear trees lining 171. That was not a city project, it was done by the Vernon Parish Chamber of Commerce when Gene Haymon was president.

No not the pear trees. I know who did that. That which I'm referring to was done by the mayor's beautification committee paid for by and large by the city. Growth is happening albeit slowly. Improvements to our infrastructure has to take precedent over anything else such as water lines, sewer, power grids, roads, etc.. Look at the changes around you with new eyes. Be gone for a year and then come back and you will see changes. It's harder to see when it is in front of you every day.

with the new market basket, gfc(round about),swimming pool, relaxed alkyhol enforcement, funding approved for bypass and sewer system, new housing additions popping up, concerts at the fairpark (rap), new and improved mayfest and soon to be new and improved mardi gras, new va facility, like new wal-mart and lowes, medical clinics also new. this has all been within the last 2 to 3 years, exception, wal mart........ maybe 4.

my personal favorite though bembh is the new high quality "dancers" at local favorite "pegasus", voted best club in vernon. also others might try the daiquiri station, club zydeco, and the new and improved end zone bar. this is not to say other clubs have not experienced new paths and new features that provide quality local entertainment. wild rides has one of the most talented bands in the area today and a "fresh" new feel.

family restaurant, foxx pizza, has the best pizza around and reliable service, clean environment. these examples might not seem like much to some, but to those who desire more of them and more local flair, it is a move in the right direction.

to the many new business's i forgot, my apologies......

i don't know how or if they were involved, rather than if something else is moving things in another direction.

roase and co. have been behind the bypass/parkway, although it has been a discussion for years around here. mayfest and the fair also had great years this year even though the economy is kind of slow.

i have to give credit where credit is due. it can only help leesville, although i know these examples are not along all peoples ideals, they are the majorities wishes and they came to light just this past year.

If I was Hickmans attorney I would file paper work request she recuse herself for the appearance of ethical issues. But then again it couldbecome a reason for appeal to overturn! I just can't wait until Rose has to get on the stand!!

Do you think we may finally get to hear from Col. Sage?

BTW, I just got a robo-call from Willie Banks supporting James Armes.
