The Liberal Media is crucifying her because she was honest in answering the question about her using the "N" word in the past. She explained the context and time and admitted that it's not acceptable in today's society. Come on people, this was years ago and if we would be HONEST, we ALL are guilty of this. This is the South people, and as for as The Food Network dropping Paula Deen...Really. I hear the "N" word used more today by Blacks in daily talk and music than I ever hear it used by whites. If it's so "derogatory", why do they call each other the "N" word? Read her book and see how much she has helped the people that works for her and their children, blacks and whites, even sending their children to college to get an education. I am Southern and Proud and have lots of Black friends, but it's not us who keeps living in the past! Let's move forward in the future and not keep "reliving" the past. Just my opinion and we all have one.

could not agree more, no matter who you are there is no one on this blog that can say they have never used a slur in their past, and if they say that they have not then they are a lier.

Personally the word does not offend me, but to the older generation I can see where they are sensitive to it. There are kids today of all races who use the word, though I feel she should not have lost all that she did, I believe that some of the sincerity of her interview was not for what she said, but for what she lost and is losing. When she said that she doesn't know that it would offend someone, that was a load of pure horse crap. Public figures/celebrities need to realize they are held to higher standards than normal people especially because they lead such public lives. She has however learned how much one word can potentially destroy not only her life but the lives of others.

Why aren't Walmart, Target et al refusing to sell music by rappers who can't sing/ say two words without a racial slur, misogynist statement or reference to violence? Why aren't the record labels themselves refusing to sign on these so called 'artists'??

While I personally find Ms. Deen a bit over the top and perhaps somewhat disingenuous, this public scourging is shameful... A double standard to be sure....

Double standard? LoL! No way! You cant even break skin with double standard. Its a do as i say not as i do mentality and it isnt right. The next time a black calls a white person a cracker or honkey call whomever is responsible for that show or song or whatever it relates to and give them nine kinds of hell.
