OMG! Can you imagine that precious old man laying there for 3 hours after being hit(and maybe still alive) and SHE didn't even stop to see what she hit. She knew she hit something but she kept on going and didn't even call it in after she got to work to have it checked out. I wonder how the State Police knew she worked at the VPSB Office? Sounds REAL fishy to me. My hearts breaks for this elderly mans family. Tox report may shed some light.

Doubt the tox report changes anything. The driver herself is 78 years old, so I doubt she was intoxicated at 5:30 a.m. on her way to work....

Go back and re-read the article. Nowhere does it say that she knew she hit something. In fact, it says just the opposite.

She had to have known/felt that she hit "something" in the road. The paper also says she was wearing her seatbelt at the time. Says who? her? She was located at her employment almost 4 hours later. I live out there and as bad as the road is, I would have stopped and checked to see what I hit and to check for damage to my car.

What is an 88 year old doing walking in the dark on a country road. He should have waited til daylight. Old folks are precious but as the saying goes -"once an adult - twice a child". Both parties should have been home unless this was an emergency- because it became one.

I am soooo pissed that people REALLY don't know what they are talking about!! Ms Toney is one of the sweetest person to meet! This was an ACCIDENT!! She was diving to work on one of MANY horrible Louisiana roads and the guy was sitting on the side of the road. She did not run over him she hit him at his shoulder. Yes horrible accident!! She really had NOOOO idea. Her bumper fell off and they tagged the part # to her Vin # and found out who it was. She had no idea! This is a very sad situation and I pray for all involved!!

The same thing happened in Anacoco not even a month ago the elderly person got out and a younger person hit him! It is dark..... pray for all involved!!!

Big Poppa Dipwad, that means if you got any chopped parts on your property, you better clean 'em up before the cops get there.

I drove that road last week on my way to Lafayette..never again. I hit a portion of the road that was so bad I almost lost control of my truck. I will drive through Alexandria next time. Who is the Police Jury member responsible for maintenance on that road? His ass needs to be gone next election. I'm suprised more people are not killed on that road. Who am I kidding, most roads in Vernon Parish suck. Let's get rid of all incumbent Police Jury members...

That is a state highway, not a police jury road.
