Despite the many military personnel who are involuntarily stationed here, this town has the most narrow-minded attitude of anywhere I've ever lived. God forbid we sell booze near a church! Seriously, get educated, stop worrying about what other people in town are doing, DO SOMETHING with your life!

I can't wait to move out of this unwelcoming, podunk town. I've met local people who have relatives in the klan, people who believe that Fox News is truly unbiased (give me a break!), people who believe that Wal-Mart is the best store around.

To those of you who are locals and really believe in this town and want to make it great, kudos to you. The Oriental Market is a great example of this -- very welcoming and friendly despite customers being strangers.

To the rest of you, who want to change us, the transients, army families in town ... I'm sorry we put such a burden on you. I'm sorry you never wanted us here. I'm sorry you all had a great chance at building up the local economy to make this place a vibrant, thriving town for not only the military but also yourselves. Yet you didn't .. and why? Pure laziness. To use one of your favorite phrases "You don't like it? MOVE AWAY!" if only most of us were so lucky ...

Apparently this is a great place to live if you love being ignorant and complacent with a mediocre life. I appreciate the welcoming overtures from some parts of the community but overall I honestly can't wait to move back to a proper city and leave all of this ridiculous high-school bullshit behind. As a new army wife, I cannot believe the complete animosity and ignorance in this town. I grew up all my life in Colorado supporting the Air Force and believing that the military was a "good thing" until I moved here ... now that I see the locals' true colors, I wonder why it is even worth it.

Shame on all of the locals who lazily suck off the teat of the army here. I love my husband and would move anywhere with him, but this has to be the worst place I've ever lived in my life. All anyone wants to do is gossip about every other minor player in this town and it is shameful. Go to college, do something else with your lives. I've travelled to middle-eastern countries that are less condemning and repressive than Leesville.

I get that "y'all" like it here as it is but open up your eyes to the world beyond CenLA and stop being so self-important. Really, your petty dramas don't even measure up to those of a Darfur War Orphan or those of anyone who has to live in a third-world country.

If you care so much, put up or shut up. http://www.ramusa.org/
You will be helping out fellow Americans in pain, even if you don't agree with Obama's Healthcare Plan.

Even further, rejuvenate your main street. God knows how many amazing buildings there are in old Leesville, and yet the place is a ghost town. If I had the money I'd open up an Applebee's and a TJ Maxx and own this town ...

I don't understand how you can all try to maintain this "small town" image while still supporting a huge army post. The main drag is ugly and full of fast-food signs and other "instant gratification" boutiques.

I wanted to love Leesville and living in the South, but this place just sucks the life out of you, especially for those of us who are atheist/agnostic. I wanted to give this place a chance, to use my degree to bring good to this town, but all I've met with is antagonism and "good ol' boy" politics.

If you want to live untouched by the real world, by all means do so but please, for the sake of us who are here involuntarily, say hello, give a smile, be nice ... many of us feel disenfranchised, displaced, and alone here and would like nothing more than to make a rational friend, even temporarily, in this small town. It is hard to move to a new place and be all alone.:(

Oh wow. So the first time I actually decide to write an insightful post and actually not troll this forum, it doesn't post.

Well, so much for that.

I'm not typing out another 2000 character post so I'll try and sum it up for you here.

1. You hit the nail on the head, except for the "whole area sucking off of the teat of the military" part. If you haven't noticed by the looks of this shit-hole, there isn't much benefiting from it besides a group of individuals.

2. "Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate"

3. Welcome to hell. I hope your stay here is as near painless as possible, but from the looks of things, it seems I'm just a tad bit late in saying that. Hope you find a group of individuals who make it suck a little bit less, but to be honest, you couldn't of picked a worse place to look.

Hope topix.com doesn't fail me this time and this posts. I'm gonna copy to the ol' clipboard and if I happen to re-post this a billion times, it's because it took it's sweet time updating.

Anon I agree with you 100%
I have lived all over the country and this is the worst town of people i have ever known. Even driving though back road towns in the middle of no where have people much nicer then here.
whats sad is this place has been known as the armpit of the army for over 10 years. its never going to change so there is no point in us wasting our breath. we just have to do our time and hope the army gets us out of here

I've been slacking on checking up on here. I've been too lazy to troll, but then again for the most part I really haven't been seeing anybody going for each others throats on here, so nobody to target.

Yeah, weird huh? Talk trash on here to someone (or make a completely asinine post) and I'm out to troll you. I would be shocked that nobody noticed it, but I'm sure a lot of you don't really care all that much since a lot of you are really good on following the "don't feed the troll" rule However, every once in awhile, someone slips, and then it's a field day for a good 15 min. of my time.:D

[]i totally agree with u anon i moved here when i was 9 years old so i know about the history in this town . everything u said was brave and true i gonna get bashed for agreeing with u . but they know i dont care . the reason most are so snobbish because u bring your outside world opinion to the town . they dont like that far as opening a franchise such as apple bees t j maxx that would take away from the restuarants they know and love like b j diners. who hired a gang to keep blacks undercontrol after the club . dont get discouraged ive talked to all type of sergeants and colonels as i played ball for this city and try to help put it on the map . so i traveled the world a lil bit and seen many different type of cities and how they handle things this place is full of politics within they are racist and predjudice ive met some good people dont get me wrong , but once u turn your back theyll call u a ni&^^r are ni(*&r lover . like i said in a forum on leesville daily leader u can go too officials and tell them stuff like lopez did u tell them how many laws he broke to get u and they all say u know how they are . if u gonna bash me and tell me too move out the city dont worry my child will not come up in this mess. he will have a chance to florish and really be what he want instead of janitor or work at breaud cantu shalom .

LOL WHAT

First off, did they really hire a gang? I'm gonna look into that one right there, but I'm gonna go ahead and call B.S. on their sole purpose being to "keep blacks under control after the club" since I've seen plenty of different people of all shapes, sizes, and yes, colors act like a fool after club hours because they're completely out of their gourd. A diner isn't a place to get hyped. It's a place to eat food, bring that buzz down a little bit or even just chill out. It's not the after-party.

Then move, idiots. Quit your job sucking off of the teat of the taxpayers. Nobody made you join the service. I appreciate those that selflessly serve our country. When I hear the drivel spouted by the entitled troops and their Stepford wives, I realize you are truly thankless that you were hired by the government when you couldn't make it in the real world. Welcome.
