"Racially insenstive"? BAH! Let's call it what it really is...HATE. This was completely motivated by racism and hatred. Good for the national organization and CMSU for getting rid of that racist chapter. Now let's see how much the university means it...there were PEOPLE responsible for this...mark them with a scarlet R and expel them!

For those reading this blog...let me say that I am one of the persons that uncovered these shameless actions of the AKL's. Please understand, Warrensburg has a history of being racist towards blacks in particular. The university has done much in the past 15 years (Since the Rodney King Beating Verdict for the police officers) to improve multiculturalism and diversity on campus. The university should be commended, because in the past, many instances of racism towards blacks were overlooked. Not this time. I applaud the administration of CMSU and Alpha Kappa Lambda for taking the matter very seriously. Currently, the campus is on spring break. It is my understanding that the AKL's have been "Ratting out" the other fraternities on campus because they have been suspended and forced from the fraternity complex. I understand there may still be some more fallout from these actions.

They did something stupid (and truly was not the only frat on campus doing that) but the person who mentioned that other Comics in past have spoofed white people and implied black people do like certain things. If you seriously think saying a black person likes chicken is a mean stereotype and "insensitive" lets say what it really is, STUPID..
on st. patricks day do you not dress up in green (which is only for cathlics) and eat cabbage and cornbeef?
If you think what some dumb kids getting together and "acting black" offends you maybe it hit to close to home, because if I were mexican and black people dressed up with hats and rank corona, is that bad? If so, we live in a sad pathetic over sensitive world. who needs to get a life...

What these kids did was stupid but what happened to them is was unjust. To you people getting on your soapboxes and calling the AKL's a racist group you totally have it wrong and you should shut your mouth, what you are doing is being a simple minded idiot and you are ignorant for calling all AKL's racists. I am an AKL alumnus and I have many African American friends and I am truly offended by your harsh statements. There is reverse racism here how is what these kids did any different from what famous African American comedians do on nationally broadcasted shows. These comedians are making fun of white people but it is socially exceptable because the white people aren't crying about it. Apparently African American CMSU alumni and students have thin skin and take things and spin them way out of porportion. For the alumnus above that said he was one of the people to uncover the party, you have too much time on your hands and this party didn't hurt anybody so you should dry your tears and remove your head from your ass. For Diana above don't forget to go to your Black Panther meeting this week I would hate for you to loose any hate for the white man.

The men of Alpha Kappa Lambda are in no way racist. They are a group of outstanding young men who made a bad choice. Try to remember that the majority of the men are only 18-19 years old. Did you ever do anything regretable at 18? I'm going to guess the majority can think of at least one moment they would like to erase. The men didn't intend to hurt anyone, they just wanted to celebrate a day out of school in the traditional college way (drinking). It's not like they were protesting the day, wearing white pointy hats, burning crosses, and starting racial fights. I in no way think the party theme was acceptable, but removing the group from campus was beyond unreasonable. If it is acceptable for the waynes brothers to dress up as white women and make fun of "white stereotypes" why can't we all play, its all in fun.

I am an AKL Alumni from CMSU that graduated in 1996. In no way do I agree with the party these guys had. I do however feel the punishment is too harsh. What about all the alumni like myself who had nothing to do with the party but now have to suffer the consequence of not having a chapter to go back and visit on campus? There have been AKLs at CMSU since 1957 and all those alumni now lose their connection to the university. I don't think it's fair for the alumni that had nothing to do with the party.

I think this act was motivated by two things, hate and immaturity. The bottom line is that, while not every AKL is racist, someone, somewhere got the idea to try to push their beliefs on the rest of the group. However, because they chose the path they did, they suffer the consequences they now have suffered. Hopefully they will learn. After 9-11, tons of hate happened on campus from violence to "tagging" buildings with hate speech. Recently, students were being harrassed on campus for being gay or lesbian. Bottom line is, there are groups that do not represent CMSU and make it unfortunate for some students. AKL members must pick themselves up, say they are sorry and move on.

Stupid... Yes. Racist... no way. I had an african american pledge brother in that house. People need to relax. The world is so P.C. now that no one can say or do anything without offending someone. My guess is that even the national fraternity had ulterior motives for revoking the charter.

What the difference between the African American frats @ CMSU having "White Trash" parties. There is no consistent punishment. It was all fun and games for that frat to dress up like "White Trash" but for the whole AKL frat to be tossed from school. Suspension for sure, but being kicked off campus its being a little extreme.

I am an alumnus of UCM and member of Kappa Alpha Psi. I am a Life Member of the fraternity as well. Would you please identify the the fraternity or fraternities that you accuse of having "white trash" parties? In my years of being associated with the university as a student, and in the role of an assistant chapter advisor, I have never heard of any type of party being thrown that you make in your accusation. If you may or may not have noticed, we as black people, typically do not have themes to our parties. We just party. Please identify the fraternity that you have accused, and I will personally pass along the information to the UCM administration.

I am a member of Sigma Gamma Rho and attended CMSU in the late 70's. The members of the "Phrat Complex" were known for pulling insensitive pranks, like hanging life size figures from the windows by rope. I lived in the campus trailer court which was located behind the complex. Walking to class, it was nothing to hear racial and sexist slurs being hurled at you from men at the "Phrat Complex". This event is consistent of a tradition for bad choices and bad behavior. I think harsh punishment is in order because college is the bridge into society this behavior would not be tolerated in the "real world". Truthfully it is disturbing to know that men of this age think and act this way. It is truly a reflection of their teachings and belief that Dr. King's life and the struggle of black people have no merit that it is a joke, how sick. I commend CMSU and the AKL's national body for the disciplinary ruling but are they being punished for what they did or was it because they exposed the white culture's "real take" on the matter. God Bless us all.
