American Idol Rocker David Cook Takes on Mariah

This is the first season that I have watched American Idol because I overheard David Cook singing on a commercial. I was absolutely amazed to hear him reinterpret Mariah Carey's mega pop hit "You Will Always Be My Baby". I think that his version is much better than the original. I think that Mariah Carey owns David a special thanks for revitalizing one of her songs. I think that they should do a duet of David's version. I am sure that it would be a mega-hit for both of them. I am amazed at David's talent. As Simon said last week, David is a breath of fresh air. I am sure that he will be a star even if he does not win American Idol. As Randy said, he is ready to record right now. Finally, David is in a class by himself in this competition. I am sure that the people from Blue Springs are proud of him as you should be.

Mariah: "I was surprised that David chose "Always Be My Baby" because I didn't know what he was gonna do with it. I thought that he did something really different and it made me proud as a songwriter like 'Oh, this song can stand the test of time and also [be sung from] a male perspective.' I think it'll be a hit for him, not from a selfish point of view, but from a selfish point of view of wanting to hear it, as a listener".
