Study: Spanking May Lead to Sexual Problems Later in Life

Children who are spanked or given some form of physicial punishment by their parents may be more likely to have sexual problems as adults, a new study finds.

I'm calling BS on this study. I'm willing to bet that the gaggle of little heathens that are running around these days that go without punishment when they act up, turn out to be truly BIG deviants, sexually. Hell, they're not afraid of their parents or getting in trouble because they know they won't get into trouble or they'll scream abuse. Who do you think is going to be more messed up in the long run, we who were punished, or the ones that think they can get away with anything?

Get real and quit funding stupid studies like this.

All these problematic adults were also kissed by their parents and made to eat carrots. This study strikes me as pretty silly especially considering the last line of the article that basically says it's not any physical punishment but how the individual child processes the information. In other words, it's the kid.

I think this is rediculous. It is stated clearly in the Bible, spare the rod spoil the child. Abuse may lead to sexual problems, and it would make sense, but simply spanking your children to correct them I seriously doubt is going to lead to sexual problems. I don't think God would put that in the Bible if that was the case! People just come up with new reasons daily not to spank your children. People listened and then everyone wonders why childrens are so rebellious. They don't listen to their parents, their teachers, any authority, and its because they don't care. They are not scared. PEOPLE NEED TO SPANK AND DISCIPLINE THEIR CHILDREN!

I have a 7 and 11 year old that I WISH I could spank...but I don't mostly out of fear that they will tell someone, anyone who could report that I abused them. I'd like you to state the book, chapter and line that says "spare the rod and spoil the child". Also the "rod" referred to a shepherds rod...I've never seen any shepherds beat their sheep with a rod...they lead and gently guide them in the way they should go and when they fall into a crevice they use the hook to save them. Come on Christians...

Proverbs 13:24 states, "He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him diligently." Proverbs 29:15 also tells us, "The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother."
