We can not have adults being responsible for what they do. The only thing I can see now is that if you DON'T spank your kids when they display unruly behavior, you are more likely to have a bratty child with ADD ( A$$ in Deep need of Discipline). AND you will likely end up in therapy a well.Then when corporal punishment was banned from schools, we now have a bunch of "children" that can do or say anything to their teachers, peers and all authority figures. See the rise in school shootings, assaults on teachers and peers and total lack of respect and kids out of control since paddling was taken out of the hands of schools? I got paddled at home and school and I turned out better than the average kid of today. They are just TOO spoiled. AND I think I have a pretty healthy sex life.

I don't have a problem with paddling in schools, as long as it's warranted.

Back when I was in school, I got paddled once, and in-school suspension once, simply because I defended myself against a bully.
The teachers and dean were WORTHLESS in preventing bullying. If they won't do anything to stop it, do they expect you to just take it???

Self defense should never be punished.

I got my share of time spent at the "learning" end of a paddle, and when dad found out, I got it again. I quickly learned what I could and could not get away with, and was quite compelled to watch my mouth and attitude around people of "authority". I don't see where that made me any more or less a "pervert" in the bed.(LOL) Kids these days do/say whatever spews out to whomever they feel disrespects them. And now some of the "parents" are looking for an excuse to sue or take away any punishment from everyone because little Johnny and Suzies tiny little feelings might get hurt or they may be offended. I don't think that schools do enough to protect to ones who do need it (like from bullies), but in alot of cases their hands are tied by NEA, Boards of Education,the No Child Left Behind Act, and lawsuit happy parents.

I think children need discipline, when taken in moderation. There should never be an "AssWhoopin" just for the sake of teaching them a lesson. "C'mere, I'm gonna learn ya boy!"

But structured disciplin that may include spanking, standing in a corner, time out, removal of privilages, lecture, scolding, yelling... these are all tools. But if you use negative reinforcement, just make sure the positive reinforcment is just as uplifting as the negative reinforcement is bad.
