Ward 3 City Councilor Linda M. Tyer has been tapped to become Pittsfield's new city clerk, a move that also triggers a special election in three months. Full Story

There are two good things about the Tyer appointment. One.. she has to give up her ward council seat, Two.. she has to run for the office of city clerk in the fall of '09. We have a chance to beat Tyer in the fall.. Any qualified candidate will give KNOW-IT-ALL Tyer, a run for her money. The sad thing is that Ms Tyer has been in Roberto's pocket since he became mayor. The good thing is that whoever repaces her will be better than her .

We should all say GOOD RIDDANCE to Linda Tyer. She has been Ruberto's lap dog since he's been in office. Tyer is a member of WHEN, remember WHEN ? The DISCRIMINATORY association that picks and chooses, based on BIASES. I agree with the previous post. Let Tyer take the job, and beat her in the fall!

Granted, Pittsfield ain't Chicago in terms of class, but it's not much different in terms of its share of political hacks and methods of payback.
So just what was the quid pro quo for Liberal Democrat Ms. Tyer being appointed City Clerk by the Liberal Democrat Mayor Ruberto?
This is the second article The Berkshire Eagle has published on this matter. This one is written by reporter Dick Lindsay.
Yet, in neither article did the reporter bother to list ANY of the benefits of this cushy job: high salary, total medical coverage INCLUDING full dental care, along with a nice pension and other retirement benefits, all paid for by city taxpayers.
Also, how long does this position last?
Is it permanent, or does Ms. Tyer serve at the pleasure of whoever sits in the Mayor's office?
More importantly (given Pittsfield's competition with Chicago for the number of hacks per capita) is this cushy job payback from Mayor Ruberto for anything in particular?

Has the mayors handlers chosen the new councilor who will run (hee hee) for the empty position? Guaranteed you are going to get one well heeled candidate with connections to the mayors office.

and then the taxpayers are going to pay through the nose for a "for show only" election for which only one bankrolled candidate ever had a chance

I wish I could leave with the guy going to Arkansas. If a door opens I am going with the other 2600 who have been able to get out.

Many of those who helped elect Barack Obama as the next President represent a very different generation of Americans from earlier ones. They have passed through the politically correct indoctrination of government/union controlled schools and have little accurate knowledge of history, geography, or civics with which to make informed judgments. They are more the product of popular media and culture than any previous generation. WHEN is where? Ask what WHEN is.

Linda got brought into the southern Alabama and Mississippi and Georgia 'Good Ole Boy' network and now has her reward. Fake.

It's an elected office and she'll have to stand for election in 2009. After three terms or so the voters can give her tenure.
