Actually I've been thinking about the American system of governmental turnovers, Sunday's reception, Bill Heal and Joan Myroth, 26 years of service, a hard fought election, Tuesday's village board meeting, continuity, and Creston.

I've been thinking too. About the 35 Indictments filed against the outgoing Village Clerk. I've been thinking about the outgoing Mayor's reluctance to defend his constituents' interests when he calls the accusations of Forgery, Theft and Official Misconduct against his loyal clerk an "unfortunate misunderstanding" on the front page of the Rochelle paper. Really not a time to celebrate.
I've been thinking about whistle blowers, and we should all be thinking of them too...

Where are you thinking about Fred :-) Creston has a village clerk. Rochelle has a mayor, Hillcrest has a village president, and Creston has a village president. You mention the Rochelle paper, so are you talking about the mayor? Do a better job of communicating.

I would sure like to know the full story on the village clerk thing , or should I say "misunderstanding" . I think the residents should be made aware of what's happening here . What's the official statement ? I agree that it is def. not time to be celebrating . The former mayor devoted a lot of years to Creston , it's unfortunate of him to take this stance with the former village clerk . And finally , what to heck are we celebrating with her ? The 35 indicments ? I don't think the village should take a "its okay" stance on this . You can't fart in Creston without someone complaining but it ok to steal from the village funds ? What kind of message is this sending to our children ?
And to the rest of us for that matter ?

Change would have been good .

Where in the H are you talking about? Creston doesn't have a mayor, Rochelle does, clue us in? Are these 35 charges listed anywhere other then the Rochelle news?

Wow, thats alot of stamps. Should be an interesting trial or process anyways.

Thanks for the link Scooter. It seems like it is updated on a regular basis.
Even if she is later found not guilty, it does not look good for some officials to pretend theres no investigation and throw a party for her.

I just dont understand them honering her in the midst of whats going on. The problem with the way the campaign went was when you have a block of people running together like they did it looks like a rubber stamp would be used on everything and thats not a healthy way to run a town. The other gentleman that ran just came across as very arrogant. Just one opinion.

it looks like the trial starts on july 13 . I agree that the village should not have honored her with these charges against her . Do they honor all people with felony charges ? I don't think so . Twenty six years or not - a crook is a crook .
