Detective appeals firing By Cristy Loftis A detective who was fired from the Citrus County Sheriff's Office last week is asking for his case to be reviewed by an appeals board.

I think that the firing of this deputy was a very smart move for the sheriff's office. The public hearing is a good thing also, however, I don't think that Dawsy should be the one to have the final say. I think that as a public employee, the public should be the ones to decide if we want a proven liar, drug user and womanizer to be "protect" our streets. If there was not such blatant partiality shown to the deputies in this county, we would probably trust Dawsy more with being the final decision maker. This deputy was a married man, having an affair with a married woman and using drugs as well. He is supposed to be helping to rid our streets of illegal drugs and he himself is using, boy if that doesn't show lack of respect for us the citizens that pay his salary then I don't know what does. Dawsy prides himself on drug control, but his own "narcotics detective" is caught using as well as lying and its okay? Mr Bentz is not someone that I would be proud to say is protecting my neighborhood. In his (Bentz's) public response, he says the news made him look like a dirtbag, well Mr Bentz, your actions are what make you look like a dirtbag, and you should have conducted yourself a lot more like a professional that you proclaim to be instead of the dirtbag that you put out there for everyone else to see.

You have nurses raping women recovering from major surgeries, you have LYING, CHEATING, DRUGGIES, that take married women on vacations while still married himself that want to dress up during the day and PLAY Undercover Cop. What a disgrace to your community that you take an oath to uphold a certain standard as a protector of our community and our children. We don't take too lightly to COMPUTER PORN on computers that we the citizens pay for. How many people get arrested on a daily basis for innappropriate content on their private computer (and if they are wrong they should), and here we have a LEAD DETECTIVE from our VICE SQUAD that saves this kind of crap on his agency issued computer that we paid for, and he feels he deserves to have his job back. I say go work for your mistress, I am sure you can find something to do she works with the elderly (I know, maybe you can empty bedpans), we sure wouldn't want to trust you with their everyday care. Also, Mr Bentz, if the obscene material was sent to you via a co worker as you said, then implicate that person and let us repremand him as well, because that Deputy took to same oath and should be held to the same standards that we hope Dawsy holds you too.You want to dwell on the point that he beat up your truck, well I say you are prob lucky it was just your truck, lets just say for example that the shoe was on the other foot and you find your wife with another man, I am sure your response would be to take out your agency issued gun and that would be justifiable use to you, well I say you are pretty lucky that the shovel didn't find your head. Smart man to attack your truck. We the taxpayors have paid for that truck and it belongs to us in a sense, so why should he have to make restitution for something we already paid for. Don't forget the taxpayors not only pay your salary, but we also fund the spendthrift that we call our sherrif. Armored tanks too fight drugs, more helecopters than we need, higher salaries for his deputies that break the law because they feel they are above it. What a circus. I just hope that you believe in karma, because its your turn now.
