Wait until your child misses about 3 days of school and has makeup work for that class. My daughter was sick and had to make up her homework. On the days she was sick, I called and requested my daughters homework to be put in the office and I would pick it up. My daughter done all the homework and took it back the day she went back to school. All the other teachers didnt have a problem. 2 days later, Mrs. D., as so many people lovingly refer to the old hag, told my daughter that she didnt do her homework. Mrs. D. made my daughter go down and sit in the ISS room and do her homework OVER. My daughter said it was stuff that she had already done and the dumb a** teacher said she didnt. This woman is a terrible teacher. She thinks shes better than everyone else but in reality she needs to get the stick out of her a** and act like a human being.

Also, it appears maybe some of you parents should have paid more attention in grade school so your grammar would be slightly correct. just sayin.

It is my guess that most of you blithering idiots would not know compentency in a teacher if you saw it. Teachers not only have to teach they have to babysit and care for children who parents neglect. Parents want teachers who give their kids grades and make them pets. Maybe she is the real teacher and the others aren't. Have you thought about how many teachers pass kids on and they graduate unable to read. Maybe your kid will be one of them! You blast some for teaching and caring about the integtety of their class room and holding people accountable. What we all need is more accountability in the classroom, in the home and in our community. It realy does take a village to raise a child. Try teaching for 6 weeks and see what kind of a job you can do. Then go and volunteer at your childs school. Help your child, your school and your community then talk about teachers all over the county all you like. By then you might actually know something.

I do know that the stupid teacher is NOT a competent teacher whatsoever! Have any of your children had her, you blithering idiot!! My children can read and they were able to read simple sentences when they went into Kindergarten. I dont just rely on the teacher to teach my child, I also am there to help. I do volunteer at the schools and I do know what the teachers have to put up with. My child is not neglected in any way. Until you can actually say you know this teacher then I dont think that you have a horse in this race. So GET OVER YOURSELF!! YOU BLITHERING IDIOT!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I don't have a child in her class either,I do however have a coworker who has had problems with this teacher and I know that if they weren't founded this person wouldn't have a problem with her. While I don't have a horse in this race either I to feel that this teacher needs to looked into before my baby has her.

Actually, you do have a horse in this race because more than likely your child will have this horrid woman as a so called teacher and its something that you should be looking at and preparing yourself and your child before. My child is a good student and is very responsible. I never had a problem with any other teacher and neither did my child up until 4th grade, Sure my child did have some teachers that were strictor and demanded alot more than some. My child was up for the challenge. This teacher, however, doesnt offer challenges. She is just an old stick in the mud who dosent care at all about the children she teaches. When you can change a childs love for school and turn it into hatred and not even flinch, then there is a definite problem with this so called thing they call a teacher. Which this woman is obviously NOT!! Good luck to you "I agree" and all of the other children that are going to encounter and endure this creature!

Perhaps you should not blame the teacher but look at administration. Have parents been to the principal. Has the school board recommended an improvement plan? The principal must document observations, complaints, etc. in order for issues to be addressed.

My child had Mrs Dickenson long time ago and she was one of the best teachers she could have had. She and Ms. McClanahan. I had no problems with Mrs. Dickenson except if my child didn't bring homework in. Is that Mrs. Dickenson's fault??? And besides, who cares about her husband and his problems? Check out your own home and I bet we could have DSS in there in 30 minutes on you.
Forget it and stop bashing on Mrs. Dickenson!
Everyone wants to blame the "poor old teachers" and most just want to send them to school and after school to get rid of them youselves. You have an option, you can home-school them. Take them out and try it yourselves. "I'm sure you might do a better job than Mrs. Joan Dickenson. lol
Get over it! Your child is going to have more difficulties once they reach college, what you going to do, run everytime he/she don't come to class with papers turned in???
Good Gosh, what a waste! She can't control what her husband does no more than you can your own. So lets just leave her personal life out of this. He don't teach your child, she does!!!!!!

My child has her this year. I have no problem with her style of teaching or the fact that she is strict. My issues with her consist of her unprofessional conduct and attitude. I have requested teacher/parent conferences to which I have gotten no reply. I have provided at least two other ways for her to contact me personally on several occasions. Her responses to any question or comments that I sent to her in the form of correspondence was to tell my child in front of the class to quote "tell you mommy...." On one occasion she indicated in his assignment notebook that he needed to study for an upcoming test....he was struggling in her class, so we did study a lot for that particular test. He took it and scored 100. Her response: she had him to bring his notebook to the front of the class, she looked through it , found no cheat sheet and made him retake the same test. He scored 100 on the second test as well. This is only one of many times he has been humiliated and harassed in the class room. If bullying is a punishable offense for the students.....why does it not apply to the teachers as well? I have gone through the proper channels to make my concerns known. As of now, the problem still exists and I am at the superintendent level and waiting for a reply. I have substituted in a classroom and I worked as an aide in a school system for two years. It is NEVER acceptable to belittle or embarrass a child in front of his peers. In some cases tenure allows teachers to become too comfortable in their job security and unfortunately this type of behavior slowly creeps in. I wish that teachers could be voted "in" and "out" like county officials. Not based on their political affiliation but on their success rate. I think it would be interesting to see the pattern of grades for the students in her class over the past several years. Did their grades decline from the previous year? Did they improve as the year progressed? Did their grades improve in the following year? How many "A" students declined in her class? Were they able to pull these grades back up as the year progressed? I also think it would be interesting to survey her students from the past several years. I believe that their input would be beneficial in determining the effect of the classroom atmosphere on their attitude toward school. My question to them would be...describe a typical day in her classroom. I know my child struggled academically in her class when the year began...he has LEARNED in her classroom. But, children should not have to endure belittling, bullying, humiliation or harassment in the classroom, especially not at the hands of the teacher. If reported, we as parents, treating our children in this manner in our homes, would be investigated by social services. Why are classrooms not held to the same standards?

Just a thought,
I tell you what I would do if I had gone through the proper channels with Mr. Long and Mr. Garrett and the School Board. I would take the law in my own hands. Just check out the record CHRIS CARRIER/LEBANON'S FINEST POLICE and he got away with MURDER AND NEVER SPENT A DAMN DAY. That is the problem we are having with our teenage drivers out here in town. CHRIS CARRIER is harassing the hell out of them for just sitting on the parking lots and talking. We are FED UP, If Mike Duty wont do anything about it, then the ATTORNEY GENERAL can. We are tired of this trash hiding behind a damn badge and harassing the hell out of our kids.

My son had Mrs. Joan Dickenson/Ms. Karen McClanahan when he was at the middle school. I can say these were the best two teachers he has ever had. Mrs. Dickenson is strict but she cares if the students learn. She wont put up with no Bull*** but when your child gets out of her class, he/she will be ready for the next grade. You better thank GOD for teachers like her because once they get to high school, the teachers could care less if the students show up for class, let alone do their work. If you have a problem, I know that Mrs Dickenson will sit down with you like a professional and talk with you about it. Mr. Garrett and Mr. Long are great and I know if you got a problem, they will be the first to address it. I wish my sons would have had Mrs. Dickenson, Mr. Garrett, and Mr. Long all of their school years.

Are we talking about the same woman? She is not caring by far. She loves to humiliate children and really does not care about them. I know for a fact she will not sit down with you and have a meeting. She humiliated my daughter in her class and was constantly putting her down. I spoke to the principals and they absolutely would not listen. Its Mr. Price and Mr. Henley now. I even went to the school board which was a waste of time. You are one of the very few that think she is a good teacher. I was so tired of my daughter coming home in tears and crying because of this dumb bi***! I removed my daughter from that school and put her elsewhere. Her grades have went up and she is doing sooooooooooo much better. They really need to get rid of that teacher, she is an old bat whose menopause has carried over into her classroom apparently. I would love to have another conversation with that woman and it wouldnt be a very nice one either. One day shes going to pick on the wrong persons kid and humiliate them and she going to get sued along with the school for not protecting that child!!! I will sit back and LMAO when it happens.

Perhaps, you didn't fully read my post....I have requested a conference with her on SEVERAL occasions. I have left messages on her voice mail and sent requests in writing for a conference....throughout the course of this school year, she has YET to even reply. FYI, she is a teacher at the elementary school therefore Mr. Garrett and Mr. Long have no need to address this situation. Again, if you will read my post, I have no issue with the academics of her classroom....being strict is not the issue. What would you do if a teacher humiliated your child in front of the class on more than one occasion? Would you disregard your child's feelings?

I had her many years ago and couldn't stand her as a teacher. My children now go to RCPS and even thoough I live in Lebanon, I take them to Belfast/Elk Garden so they wouldn't have her, along with a couple of others. Teachers at Belfast/EG are wonderful.

MRS "BITCHENSON" AS WE SO LOVINGLY CALL HER IS BY FAR THE ABSOLUTELY WORST TEACHER MY CHILD HAS EVER HAD!ACTUALLY, SHE IS THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. SHE HAS BEEN SUCH A BITCH TO MY SON THIS SCHOOL YEAR. AND THE THING IS, SHE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO DISLIKE HIM, THERE WILL BE PEOPLE ALL THROUGH LIFE THAT BOTH LOVE YOU, AND UNFORTUNATELY, HATE YOU. BUT THIS WOMAN, THIS TEACHER, ACTS ON HER FEELINGS. SHE MAKES NO EFFORT TO HIDE THAT SHE DOESNT LIKE HIM. WHAT KIND OF PERSON IS INTENTIONALLY HATEFUL AND MEAN TO A CHILD? THIS IS NOT A PERSON THAT SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY AND THE PRIVILEDGE OF EDUCATING OUR CHILDREN. I FOR ONE, DO NOT WANT MY CHILD TO BE TAUGHT TO BE AN UNCARING ASSHOLE. AND HAVING ANY CONTACT WITH THIS WOMAN CAN ONLY BE A NEGATIVE INFLUENCE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE.
