Not Sure I Understand

AOL

I have reivewed the negative information regarding public opinion and concerns regarding Buchanan County Department of Social Services. I am interested in the experiences of others with Russell County DSS. My experience was pitiful. I don;t understand why people get into a job they arent really interested in doung. I know some laws are lax but when it comes to protecting children there are simply no excuses.

I agree completely, I do not understand why the social workers at Russell County social services work there. They act as if they are offended by people coming in and applying for benefits, and for needed to intervene when it comes to an abusive household or neglect of a child. It's sad, and they should look into another career field.

Yeah, and then I just wonder if their concious bothers them in the least??!! I doubt it. It breaks my heart to think that people, especially children's lives are being risked because someone took a job that required paperwork, and they hate paperwork. So, they just send them on their way. All the while, they sheww or sign with forced, unsincere appologizes, and act so tired so that you may believe that they did all they could. Umm, isn't there anyone, anywhere who actually wants to help people? I mean, really the salary that a social worker makes is not that impressive compared to other professions requiring degrees in this area. SO, why would someone go into a position that is supposed to help people, but then they ultimately hurt the people they are supposed to be helping.

Then how about this? Russell county DSS refused to give a person Medicaid and now he has to travel all the way to Charlottesville to get help with for his herniated disc. Would you want to sit in a car for 3 or 4 hours with that pain when it is so simple to help him in his area so he can get treated faster and be able to go back to work.

It's very sad that they would do someone like that. But, the truth is they do..everyday. I have seen people at the doctor's office, that everyone knows has more that just a small addiction to different drugs, and they aren't forced to deal with pain, they give them medicaid, they give them everything coming and going. I don't understand how they can do that to people who really need it. I've also seen plenty of people that really need it, one in particular that walked in to one's office when called back, and she told that person to get out, as soon as they walked in. This person has always had a disability, and it's apparent just by seeing them walk. However, they worked and pushed themself through the pain until they couldn't do so anymore, (22years later). And, then get told to get out. That amazes me, well so much for paying in to these medicare/medicaid through your pay check. They won't help you when you need it. I;m sorry that he has to go through all that, maybe he should keep trying. I hope he gets Angel or Angie, I cannot remember her name, but I hear she is the nicest and most sincere.

Well it comes as nothing more than a shock to me to hear so many complaints. What is also shocking to me is the fact that people expect social workers to be medicaid givers. Alright first off every government office has policies and procedures this means that the workers arent the judge on who gets what it is afforded to the state. number two i can see why social workers lose the fire in their jobs. if all you got to do for 8 hours a day was listen to people whine and complain about how hard life is when you have your own financial problems. you know these people make 25,000 a year when there clients get more than they do in benefits. these same clients , most of whom, have never worked at all and just expect the government to hand them a decent life in a little silver bucket. It is nothing more than disgusting to me to think that i work 8 hours a day busting my ass to provide for my family when some pill head can lay around pop drugs hit his wife and get my tax dollars. If i was president it would go back to the original principles that John Smith founded america on if you dont work you dont eat. Now i know that there are elderly people who have worked and need help due to low wages in the past and that is okay. these are the people who dont get the proper amount of benefits. But johnny lazy ass can lay around and has better food and health coverage than me.

NOT everybody is a pill head or laying on their ass believe me Id rather be working ANYDAY. why are you in a job like that if you DONT like the job DONT like the people?? you can not like the circumstances but that gibves you NO RIGHT TO BE RUDE AND NASTY !! get a job at pussywillows so you can be stroked daily and told how special and pretty you are!ONE DAY YOU or your family will come in and have to "whine" asking for help and I hope they get a worker just like you! I know YOU dont make the rules that will qualify a person or not but I KNOW there are programs you people know about and dont even tell anyone that you know are in need of them. So sat on you FAT ASS and look down your nose at people but remember most everyone that does that forget to lower their head when it rains and DROWNS!

Number one if im looking down my nose why would i worry about drowning when it rains that would mean im looking up my nose dumbass. Ha the lack of simple education. Number two with that statement right there i dont need to make you look any more ignorant you completed that objective for me. However, i am not a worker for the dss far from it actually. Now lets look at facts, you commented that most people who need help are not pill heads or lawbreakers. alright well go to google if you can remember how to spell GOOGLE, which from your poor spelling and grammar i dont know if that is possible for you if not just look back here, and look at time magazines special on our community where information was released that 90% of people recieveing state level and federal government benefits are involved at some level in the drug trade. that means 9 out of 10 dumbass. Now if im not mistaken this is the Uited States of America land of the free and what not so i have the first amandment right to look down upon whoever i please. Thats the first amendment of the constitution you might want to look that up to. But all is well actually i m quite young and am currently working towards my future. so no i am not a worker at social services but i am young and already work more than most have in their life that recieve benefits. PEACE.

You might want to check your spelling also russell county resident. I think it is United States of America not Uited....just a thought.. i think everyone should realize there are many sides to this situation, so many in fact most of your small minds could not absorb it all. Maybe i'll give it to you in small doses later so you can understand.

Alright i make some time in my schedule for some Q&A. But first i have a question for you. Why do you recieve benefits from lebanon if your from Missiouri? Alright first off i am 20. Iwork 8 hours a day, pay all of my bills including healthcare, and i also attend college full time in a law program. I am not marrie dbut basically same as. And no i do not have any children, that i am aware of anyway. Now i never said that everyone who recieves benefits is a lowlife you have misquoted me there. Go back and read my original post, or for some of you have someone read it to you, and you will see what i said. i understand that we are in a recession and many people have earned benefits. This is not a one side or the other argument. there are many valid points to my arguement, such as drug abusers and people who are to lazy to work do not deserve benefits. If you disagree there your either a saint or an idiot. Now for future reference for everyone if you are going to quote me please do it correctly. Thank you all and have a wonderful night.

Jack, you may actually appear more intelligent if you used your small mind to remember that the first letter in your name is supposed to be capitalized! You most likely are employed by the Department of Social Services, just judging by your attitude and insults of people in need. It's amazing that you feel superior to anything, including dirt..pity. But, since you do allow me to enlighten you, at any given point in your life, you may be in the situation that the people you put down are in now. People are getting laid off from their jobs everyday, and losing money in the stock market, everything is more expensive, and you never know if you'll have a very expensive medical or any other type of emergency. So, before you start bragging about what you have, remember how fast you could lose it. Mr. Superior.....just for how long will you stay that way?

No, i do not work for the social services and you mis-understood my remarks altogeather. I make mistakes and so does everyone else...the mispellled word remark was tongue in cheek for everyone who thinks they know so much...they really only know a small part. everyone is blasting social service workers. They dont give medicaid or keep medicaid from people based on whether they like someone or not. They have policies and procedures(like any government office, ie..vec, social security office)that aren't wrote by them but by people much higher up than them and those are the policies they must go by. Each county has a social service office and that social service office has a board of directors but the policy that grants food stamps or medicaid to some and not others is wrote by the federal government and the state while the workers are hired locally sometimes by politics sometimes not and that is what i meant by the message that you only know a small part of it.And you were way off when you stated i feel superior-no where in my remarks did i say that nor did i slam people in need. Everyone is in need in some way and i would say to you that you need to try to get the whole story before you slam everyone. I'm also sorry you don't have a sense of humor, it might serve you well to see if you can find one. if you can't tell that's a joke to. lighten up- as far as i know you could be changing your name and writing every one of these posts. lol...
