Will Northrop Grumman be good for Lebanon?

That's because most of the people that work there and CGI live in Abingdon. As we all know there is NOTHING for a young person in Lebanon to do. OOPS I forgot sex and drugs we have that!!!

I work at Northrop Grumman and I'm glad that they are in Lebanon, If they hadn't been located close by in the area I would have had to leave the mountains I love. As far as nothing to do your right there isn't anything to do in Lebanon that would make most of NG's or CGI's employees relocate to Lebanon.

Let me tell you what CGI did to me. I have a bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, and I have had 3 interviews with CGI federal only because I knew some people that worked there.(As a side note) I have personally known people that have went through that herendous fast track course completely,got and interview and was never hired. Anyway, I was strung along each and every time by CGI thinking I was going to get a job with them especially the last time.

The man who interviewed me actually took the time to show me around the building and give the dime tour. They sent me a comprehensive benefits package only for me to be given the absolute cold shoulder in the end. What gives?

I think they have strange and completely biased hiring practices. If they had no intention of hiring me why go to to all the trouble of leading me on with a benefits package and a tour of the facility? That's downright mean and heartless.

I wish these places would just pack up and go back to where they came from.

Im going to apply for northrop grumman security coordinator soon/ they are going to let .the one they have now go next month/ Does anyone on this site know why they are letting her go// I ask their human resource person he would not tell me// can anyone on this site tell me what she done//

I know why you wasn't hired is because you are probabaly white. I know a boy who got hired there and was nothing more than a cop with a high school dipolma. This little fat black lady interviewed him, I think her last name may have been Tatum. So, if you were black, you probabally would have got on even with no education. Where has the system failed the poor old white person????

From what I hear, CGI is about as "white" as any place you can find these days. If someone goes through the interview process, who can say why they finally don't get hired? Maybe they failed the background check. Maybe the contract they were being hired to work on was suddenly cancelled. Things like that happen all the time.

And don't be hating on the Tatum, you are probably just jealous because she has accomplished more already than you will ever hope to.

I dont think many white people especially women get hired on at CGI because I was told that they have a little short fat black women that they have sent everywhere to train for a human resouce person dont like that many white people.My friend had an interview and she told me this little black woman must still be holding a grudge about he anchestors were slaves,said she was very rude to her and she got the tour of the plant and everything and never heard from her again.I think she said her last name was Tatum or something like that,but she does not give the white people a chance that she is trying to get every black person in the plant that she possibly can,sounds like she is the one discriminating.

Oh no I am not jealous of any of her accomplishments ,BUT I sure know about how to satisfy her husband.I know that is one thing we dont have in common,I helped her take care of him at Teleflex before he and I got hired at the Regional Jail,and you dont even have to spell to do that.It is all about feelings,which she knows nothing about.When he had the little black suv we kept it rocking after work.

Hey whats going at northrop grumman- workers quitting or getting ready to just walk out.My mom works their and her and about 30 other workers have contacted a union based out of richmond va. Union rep. on way to talk to them in 2 weeks. No one likes whats going on at this place. To many e mails being sent behind workers back by some management- and their lieing security coordinator. Plus fox and cnn about to publish story on these two problems at lebanon va site.

What's all this talk about their security people? And a union get real as soon as most big corps hear rumblings the instigators are out the door, they need to watch it if they still want to be employed in this economy.

The talk about the Security team is pure rubbish; They are among the most professional I have ever worked with.
The "Union" talk is garbage as well, as far as I can tell. None of my colleagues have heard this rumor. As with any call center type environment, there is a diverse range of employees. Unfortunately, with diversity comes a wide range of work ethic, morals and general attitudes.
It may be true that it's not a perfect place to work; As a center it's fairly new and still finding it's footing in some areas. BUT- I'm guessing those that are spreading rumors are those who have been identified as having performance issues (attendance, work performance, attitude, etc). The identity of those employees is not a secret.
There are some real opportunities with Northrop Grumman- Both in Lebanon and around the world. There will be those who say "It's just a Help Desk job"- But more is on the way. It has not been around long enough for this to become apparent to some. It's very frustrating to hear "I've been here since it opened and not been offered anything else". That's only been a couple of years! And several types of positions, ranging from QA to management, have been opened and filled by local folks since then. Tenure has no impact on these promotions; They are based on performance.
As "Lady Realtor" states, NG has been good for Abingdon and all other areas where the employees live. I sure hope more contracts/staffing are in the works.
