Has anyone heard that an individual was arrested for a threat made to Lebanon Elementary. I find this very troubling given recent events...why would do something like this!

My problem lies in the school systems form of notification...... There will be cops tommorrow....the children are going to be wondering why! Even if it's just a "threat" ....I would like to be informed to the safety of my child!!! I do not want to find out the going ons second hand! We have a right as parents to be informed!!!

The school system should let parents know if this is true and what measured are being taken to protect our children.

I just called the police department. It has a high school kid who made a nasty comment Friday and because of the events in CT on Friday, they arrested his smart ass. The cop said it wasn't a "threat" but a comment that should not have been made in light of the CT shooting. Said the kid didn't make a comment about a particular school even. I think it's fine...

Threats are going to be made by teens. They are teens and become more unruly and disrespectful every day. If you truly feel that it's unsafe to send your child to school, then don't send them. It's pretty simple.

Yes, how many times HAVE comments been made and ignored? There was no threat to Columbine. There was no threat to CT. I actually can't recall a time that a threat was made, then something actually happen at a school. I can't recall a school shooting that had "threats ignored" even... I think if it was that big of a "threat" they would have announced it and school would close...

Oh I agree.....with you on wether to send them or not....I'm just tired of the way this county handles matters.... Sometimes little information is a bad thing....especially when it comes to your child's safety.... Threats no matter how small or big... Can turn into more...not saying that this threat would have...just saying that I like to be informed and not have to sort the facts via topix...Facebook or any second hand source....I want to hear from the powers thar be

Snow flakes...and threats to children....don't go hand in hand.... Look at the attempt to brush the mess in castlewood aside. Out of sight out of mind....just really irritates people

Well, that is inaccurate. In fact, a student at Columbine and his mother called the local police on more than one occasion to voice concerns over the two shooters. At Tech, Nikki Giovanni went to staff members and said she would resign if the shooter was not removed from her class. These are facts that are easily researchable. Perhaps you should research your comments more thoroughly!

when I called the sheriffs office I was told "a student did post something on facebook; that law enforcement did arrest him and that he is being held at the detention center, and that is all the information they have to release at this t The word threat wasnt used by the officer, just so that im not saying that.

No threat was, apparently, made to a certain school.

This LHS student made this comment via Facebook, "If you think CT was bad, wait till you see what I'm going to do Monday"

Joke or not, there is nothing funny about that.
Knowing him, it was more than likely a pathetic attempt to be funny and to gain attention.

if it was a ignorant comment in an attempt for attention to be funny, or an actual threat...the fact remains that it obviously was serious enough for him to be arrested, therefor there should be some notification to the parents of school aged children! I would have NEVER known this is going on had a friend not called me and im seriously disappointed that it wasnt brought to my attention by the school system or local authorities! I will not be sending my son to school tomorrow because at this point, you NEVER know. I would rather be safe and see my son another day than sorry!

Teens today have no respect, no morals, no compassion. And, it is going to get worse. It's sad and scary.

It was just a smart ass remark made on Facebook. I know the guy personally and he wouldn't hurt anyone, he just puts up a tough front. He just tells his opinion and he can be very much a smart ass. But still is nothing to joke bout!!
