FBI: Wilson Officer treid to sell info(Category: Blue Gang News) Wednesday 20 April 2011 - 08:30:41
Federal authorities arrested a Wilson County police officer they say tried to sell information about a federal drug investigation to a target of that investigation in exchange for $100,000 and a Range Rover. Wilson County Sheriff’s Department Deputy John Patrick Edwards, 38, of Mt. Juliet, was familiar with the federal drug investigation because he had been a member of the FBI’s regional drug task force and was working with the federal authorities on the case. But in March, Edwards got into trouble when he was arrested on an unrelated theft charge involving his wife and another woman. After that arrest, he lost his job on the task force and was suspended without pay from the sheriff’s department, officials say. Without those jobs, the 15-year-veteran of the sheriff’s department was hurting for money, according to federal documents

The arrest was six months ago. I have not heard a single story since. No court date, nothing. Kind like we were sapped by the men in black and they erased our memories.

Has anyone noticed all the federal indictments since his arrest?
Wonder why he would ask for a vehicle along with the 100,000. Seems someone had the means to get him one without coming out of pocket per say.

Former Wilson County Lieutenant Pleads Guilty
Posted: Feb 03, 2012 8:16 PM PST Updated: Feb 03, 2012 8:16 PM PST

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A Wilson County deputy gone rogue has admitted to some serious charges in federal court. John Patrick Edwards already faces state charges, but decided he didn't want to go to trial and just pled guilty.

John Patrick Edwards had a promising career in law enforcement, until he found himself on the wrong side of the law. On Friday, Edwards the 39-year-old pled guilty to a charge that will put him in prison for a long time.

The US Government says last April Edwards, who was a Wilson County Sheriff's deputy and served as an officer on the FBI-DEA drug task force, had an idea to make some money. The government started investigating Edwards after he offered to sell sensitive information to someone under investigation for smuggling drugs. For his trouble, Edward wanted $100,000 and a Range Rover.

Friday in Federal Court he admitted to taking the cash in a move that could put Edwards in prison for up to 20 years.

Although the judge could sentence Edwards to jail for 20 years, the US attorney is suggesting a sentence of eleven years.

Sounds like he helped the state if they are suggesting 11 years.
