What’s happening: This bill is written under the premise to deter smoking. Its true purpose is to get rid of discount tobacco places. The industry standard before discount tobaccos was 15% profit margins. Discount tobaccos work on the current state minimums of 8% profit. Grocery stores, Dollar stores etc cannot work on profit margins of 8% and need 15 %. The current bill before the house and senate of Tennessee would mandate every retailer to sell their cigarettes at no lower than 15% profit margins. Effectively this would end discount tobacco places. It is the big boys way of getting the state to take care of them and hurt your wallet! This bill is currently being voted on. Call your representative and senator and tell them to vote NO on HB 0644 and SB 0788.

what do you expect when the people of this state largely elect plutarchs that are far removed from regular every day people in almost every way?
