Wrong, "Truth" lady. I have known these people for years. They will work with you every way they can. If you are decent to them, and keep your word, then you will run into no problems with honest people in this town.

I can tell you that the people at Rent-to-Own went the extra mile with us. When I was too sick to work, and we let them know that we might run a little behind, then they patiently worked with us.

Even several times, they accepted payment in form of my husband's work - but it was not "under the oounter." They paid my husband with a check, as matter of record, and then accepted the payment in cash after my husband deposited the money in his bank, and brought back the remainder of the payment to them.

We have never found them to be rude or unprofessional, unethical in conduct - and we have known them for a long, long time - even before they opened Rent-to-Own.

I have never met a staff of nicer, more honest people than these folks, and our vehicle was paid off long ago - so I can be ocmpletely honest about it, with no motive/agenda in mine.

I think you must have one though---

@"Delcia" United States: There are Rent to Own Rip Off places in Columbia - places like Aaron's (formerly Cleek's) and some Pay Day Check places in abundance. There are also some collection agencies that Rip-Offs (like TOG on I-70). You are correct in saying that such places are rip offs, and that they exist here in Columbia.

But Rent-To-Own Autos is not one of those places.

I would be the first to say so, if it were.

We found the perfect work truck on their lot after a long time of looking everywhere, and they helped see that we not only got it, but that we got to keep it through some pretty tough times.

They really are good people.

If you live in Columbia, drop by and see them. You will like them.

I can tell you all about TOG. I worked there in the insurance validation office.

Chances are, the letterhead you receive from "a lawyer" comes right from there and the bonuses you pay when you are taken to court by them, go right to a little gile sitting there at TOG, who said they did not have the acoount everytime you tried to call the number the person you owed gave you - and then hung up on you - when the person you owed put you directly through to the number.

By the way, the name they give when they call your employer (which they arfe never supposed to do, by Missouri law) and ask for "validation" of your employment so they can know what to ask for in garnishment when they take you to court, is never their correct name.

They will also lie about their location. But they are right here in Columbia in a back building sunk down with locked door, right over on I-70.

By the way, they call you "suckers," laugh at you, and hold bup the bonus checks and cheer and brag after they have ripped you off for thousands of dollars.

The judge listens to the lawyer, and does nor care if you have been ripped off.

You will be granished, high interest rate put on you, and you will conveniently pay their "lawyer," and their court fees.

There is a new weapon agains these rip offs. It is blogging.

If you get any number on your caller I.D. from any of these folks, just Google in the number and file your complaint where others have.

I hated working there, hearing this all day, but - as a writer - I am now glad I did.

Maybe I can help hard-working people who get ripped off in this way.

All facts! I used to work there! I watched it happen!!! Just because they are nice to ur face doesn't mean they are not screwing u behind ur back.

We got a vehicle from the Rent to Own place in Lebanon and it lasted me all of 2 weeks. I told them to come and get it where it died on me as I had no way to get it to them. The owner told me to either find a way to get it to her or I would be taken to court to pay the balance. She never fixed it and never offered me anything else. I went straight to Car mart in town who has been nothing but great and understanding in my time of unemployment. In fact I've sent my boyfriend and his mother there to get cars. Both are very happy! I would never go back or recommend anyone to Rent to Own.

We are not talking about the same place then. You guys are talking about someone I do not even know. The people I know have a business in Jeff City and one in Columbia. I apologize for mixing up the two. You have every right to complain as a oonsumer. I fully endorse Rent and Go. There are no better, more honest people than they are, to do business with, and I am sorry that we have the rip-ff people to deal with in our communties.
