An army of hunters! Interesting slant on things
AMERICA'S HUNTERS ---
Pretty Amazing!

The world's largest army... America's hunters!
I had never thought about
this...

A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a
handful of states and
arrived at a striking
conclusion:

There were over 600,000 hunters
this season in the state of Wisconsin ..
Allow me to restate that number:
600,000

Over the last several months,
Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in
the world.

More men under arms than in Iran.

More than France and Germany combined.

These men deployed to
the woods of a single American state, Wisconsin, to hunt with
firearms, and no one was killed.

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and
Michigan's 700,000 hunters,
all of whom have now returned home safely.
Toss in a quarter million hunters
in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the
hunters of those four states alone
would comprise the largest army in the world.
And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states.
It's millions more.

The point?

America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that
kind of homegrown firepower.

Hunting... it's not just a way to fill the freezer.
It's a matter of national security.

**********
That's why all enemies,
foreign and domestic,
want to see us
disarmed.

Food for thought, when next we consider gun control.

Overall it's true, so if we disregard some assumptions that hunters
don't possess the same skills as soldiers, the question
would still remain...
What army of 2 million would want to face 30, 40, 50 million armed citizens???

( I FEEL GOOD THAT I HAVE AN ARMY OF MILLIONS WHO WOULD PROTECT OUR LAND AND I SURE DON'T WANT THE GOVERNMENT TAKING CONTROL OF THE POSSESSION OF FIREARMS)

For the sake of our freedom,
don't ever allow gun control
or confiscation of guns.

An invading enemy is going to have a lot more firepower than an average hunter. Rifles and shotguns aren't going to stop carpet bombing drones, tanks, or nuclear rockets! The image of our good ol'boys organizing in the woods for guerilla warfare, defending their homes block by block is very quaint, and doesn't work. The Russians used that strategy during WWII on the eastern front, throwing untold millions of ill equipped and untrained civilians at an advancing army. The weather stopped the Germans, not the militia. Today war is fought on a computer!

Do some research. No invading army has ever won a war without sending in ground troops. On the ground is where wars are won or lost. That is when guerrilla warfare is useful. Even modern day wars with all the air power and battle ships eventually end up with troops on the ground. You need look no further than Iraq or Afghanistan. Depends on the armament of the civilians of how effective it is. See Vietnam.

You are absolutely correct. We lost Vietnam because of the enemy's proficient guerrilla techniques... and that sad war lasted for years. We must not let the government take our guns. Unfortunately, the latest school shooting will scare enough citizens to want stricter gun control laws. However, criminals and the mentally ill do not care about the law. So the "good guys" will be the ones left without protection while the lawless will go about business as usual.

Historically these societies were homogenous people defending a homeland. We don't have that here, as we are a nation of immigrants. Any real guerilla war threat would come from Central and South America. They've got plenty of armed support here already. But that's just imagining an invading "other", the real enemy is poverty and we are all surrounded. The "hunter militia" is really just another gang running around.

We are ALL Americans, and I would hope that we consider our homeland as America. People of different cultures have come to America for freedom from oppressive governments. When they gain citizenship, they become Americans, regardless of their cultural background. Being a nation of immigrants is what made this country strong. Although we do not forget our heritage, we hold fast to the American way, where even the most humble of people can aspire to greatness and to grow up to be whatever we want. My grandparents immigrated from an eastern European country. They were considered to be poor financially, but they were rich in hopes and dreams that they held for life in this country. Yet, through very hard work and no social welfare, they prospered. Their children fared even better, and their grandchildren were the first to be college educated, leading professional lives. Yes, we are a nation of immigrants, but we adopted America as our homeland when our parents and grandparents gained citizenship.

Yes, these are all the ideals of a unified America, and I fully support your statement. Our scenario is of armed hunters and gun enthusiasts as a last defense militia against an invading enemy. There is no government response at this point, total anarchy! Even if our hunters grouped up with their rifles to defend us against the enemy, who is supplying them? Feeding them? Gassing their vehicles? Providing basic health and sanitation? They will kick down your door, rape your women, take what you have, and move on. You want to cite instances of war, let's include Rwanda and the Congo. Apparently napalming villages and picking off running people on fire isn't enough to satisfy a tea baggers dream!

The black guys that have guns will defend us! Yep, they will put their American huntsman experience to use, team up in SUV's, and rove about the countryside defending the small town from pillage! The Latino nationals not far behind, except that they have a lot more communist sympathy and better looking cars! I'm feeling safer already, knowing my white boys in F-150's have things under control! Fuck the Red Chinese, 450,000,000,000,000,000 of them will never take out a couple hundred of our good ol'boys!

It gets even better when the food supply breaks down, those guerilla fighters in them deer stands come down wanting their women to make them a sandwich! They will get tired of pickles and stinky venison at some point, they might even eat you! That happened before also!

Dont stop your research, and iyou will find that more people are killed every year by hammers, crow bars, knives, baseball bats and so on than the same fire arm you condem. Those hand guns you are talking about didnt kill anyone. The low life ignorant mean pieces of crap that used them as an extension of their cultural upbringing are the ones that did the killing.
Guns or bombs or whatever are easy to blame for the loss of life but when it comes down to looking at ourselves as the problem, and that means EVERY ONE OF US for allowing the crap that goes into the childrens minds now, we all seem to close our eyes and point at the 'gun' again!

mortgage mom you are correct. hunters do not have the command structure, logistics, medical support and the communication/coordination of a military unit. given that both sides have equal numbers one would assume that the civilians would lose and in all probability would in fact lose...but never underestimate the hit-and-run tactics of guerilla warfare. it's how we beat the british in the early 1780's.

i agree, humans have been slaughtering each other for thousands of years yet firearms keep getting the blame. we don't need guns to kill. a friend told me once that everyone who blames guns for the violence, should sit down and watch braveheart, gladiator and kingdom of heaven.
