When my tax money is going for free money to someone that uses it for drugs andnot medicine or food for their kids, it upset me royally! So yesssssssssss they should be tested before they receive EVERY check.......

I AGREE, I know some drawing a check and I would guarantee them to fail a drug test. They just sit back and figure out new ways to get an increase on their check. It must be easy these days to start drawing. I know one who STOLE a car while he was drunk, totalled it by hitting another car, and is now drawing a check for the injuries he caused himself! He was never even charged with DUI! If I had an accident in my car while drunk, I'd be put UNDER the damned jail!

Drugs are against the law! First! I dont but If I made the money I EARNED IT! The welfair people DONT EARN IT! It is YOUR AND MY MONEY that they are spending on stuff that it is NOT given to them to spend it on. It is given to them to survive on untill they can earn their own money. I bet you one thing. If they, themselves were starving and living under bridges and freezing, they would buy food first and then maybe buy some drugs if there were anything left over IF AND I DO SAY IF it is free money. If they work for it, thenuse it to killl themselves if they want but dont hurt their innocent families.

More than likely, if you are working, you have been tested and a lot of places have random testing on employees. Tell me the last time you heard of a welfare bum being tested! Some can't wait to get the check so they can party till the money is gone! Its the same thing with child support in some cases. I know a woman who QUIT her job as soon as she started getting her child support! How is this good for the children? She is laying on her ass waiting for her next check! Raising hell that her phone is out of minutes because the check hasn't arrived yet! Car is out of gas....... These people make it hard for ones who really have a need.

If they are working then THEY MAKE THEIR OWN MONEY. Drugs are NOT GOOD but if a person is working, atleast I aint buying their drugs.
Does everybody realize that there are people in jail that draw a check (while they are in jail) for beign too fat? For getting knocked up with no job? For playing off mentally ill? COME ON PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!

I Work my a$$ off every day, tried to get some help about 4 years ago and was denied, i came back stronger than ever, if we get this topic on fire and anyone can see this maybe it will help. The people on welfare should work at least 20 hours a week picking up trash for the state they draw from, cleaning up around the lakes and rivers, What is wrong with this? NOTHING! at least we quit giving them it's all free, just lay around and watch tv. So many people come in and say can I write you down for a job, I tell them no we are hiring and I need help. Fill out an application! A lot of places are hiring but can't get noone.

And if you look the government is going to make it where a percent of their foodstamp will be able to be used as cash at an atm for purchases such as washing powders and tissue. WOW

I am one of these people that need help right now. My husband was hurt at work and has been unable to work for 6 months. I have a job but do not make enough to keep the bills up. Between trying to make my house payment, my car payment and insurance, I just couldn't keep up. Finally we lost our health insurance. I had to go and sign up for help. My children now is on passport and I receive $480 a month in food stamps. Not quite enough to feed a family of six for a month. But every little bit helps. I have NO problem going in for a drug test if thats what it takes. Hell I will take my whole family in. If they tell me that I need to go pick up trash, tell me when and where. I am very thankful for the help that I am receiving.

And just thought I should add that his injury isn't "I hurt my back and can't work" It was much more serious than that. He was in the hospital for 3 weeks. Had 3 surguries. Wasn't sure that he was going to pull through at one time.

Hold your head up high mam and NEVER be ashamed when hardship hits if you do your very best. I know for a fact that if you are a true christian and need help, GOD will make sure you are taken care of so just thank GOD

But look what Florida has been through with their mandatory testing for welfare recipients. Almost 4,000 tested and just over 100 positive results. Not much of a return and the cost of the tests themselves aren't cheap either.

But if you just did a 'random screening' like the TSA agents do (racial profiling in a different form) the cost might come down, but the cries that their rights were violated would go up.

Just can't win. I'm all for weeding out the users on the system, just not as a major cost in itself. Is there really savings once the costs of the employees, labs fees and tests are added up? The numbers in Florida didn't seem very promising.
