I am glad that Jennifer's family and friends finally get closure of some sort. What Dominic did was horrific. He killed a woman and orphaned his children. He is a manipulative, self-serving sick man who got what he deserved. It's too bad he wasn't courageous enough to take his own life instead. Jennifer could be growing old as a mother of two wonderful kids instead.

He deserves nothing less than eternity in hell. Jennifer was a wonderful kind person and is missed daily. He took an angel from us that day.

Jennifer (Duke) Burton was an amazing woman that showed me how to find the good in anyone. While I will never understand the need to vilify her as part of the defense of her murderer, a man only she and his mother could ever find good in. I truly believe, all that knew her, and will continue to speak of her, and live every day with her love in tact, can erase any mis- conceptions conveyed. Jen was a source of happiness, joy and all the good we seek in others. Find the good in yourself and those around you; it will truly make bad men, like her killer, irrelevant.

Jennie's family is so good. They are so strong. This is evidenced by their survival of the last 2 1/2 years and their endurance during the smearing of Jennie's name during Dominic Burton's trial. These good people face every day with the knowledge that Jennie is gone and her killer remains alive - in spite of his so-called suicide attempts.
He has proved himself to be the ULTIMATE coward.

I think preparing his gun with a hand-made silencer (made out of a 2 liter soda bottle) before calling her to come over that night speaks volumes about premeditation and cool reflection.

Shame on Randy Schlegel's expert witness who insinuated that she "touches him with the idea of we'll just settle this with sex". I'm really curious to find out what qualifies this person as an expert. From this article I can certainly ascertain that he/she didn't know these two individuals WHATSOEVER. Many of us witnessed what a creepy "stalker" he was with her, both during and after their marriage. No way do many of us even begin to believe two things: a) that she had affairs...when could she POSSIBLY have had the chance to do that....and b) that she would instigate any act of sex with Dominic that night.

I knew Dom many years ago--for about five years in the early 1980's. We were friends and co-workers and it is shocking--ABSOLUTELY shocking--to hear about these events. None of this describes the man I knew. I never met his wife and I mean absolutely no disrespect toward her or her family and friends. Clearly a tragedy of enormous proportions unfolded. Whatever happened in the years subsequent to the time I knew Dom, I never would have foreseen or suspected he might be capable of or could ever be involved with any such activity as this. I feel bad for my old friend and the direction his life took and at the same time, I want to offer condolences to the friends and family of Jennifer. The Dom I knew in the early 1980's was a decent, funny man and a good friend. How sad things turned out this way for everyone involved.

You all say that you knew Jenny, but I'm here to tell you that you didn't. You are blind or she had you all fooled. She slept with more men that I have fingers or toes she cheated everytime she got a chance.I really don't blame her for that since that is all she knew, he father left her mother for another woman and all the children when they were very young so growing up without a father fiqure i'm sure had something to do with it. only after jenny was dead did the father (if you want to call him that) returned. Don't feel sorry for this family. They have stolen money from the girls, they are alcholics who themselves have cheated on their spouses.
If you want to feel sorry for someone feel sorry for the girls who have to live with this family! and for dom who had to live daily with this women who treated him so badly.
The truth does hurt

I never met Jennifer in person, but only spoke to her on the phone. She was friendly, helpful and loving towards her extended family with Dominic. I will say that Dominic was an unstable character even when I knew him in the early "80's, never sure of what he truly wanted. I just think that even though he loved Jennifer and his children, he was still an unsettled soul that has just committed a very big mistake.
Thier children will suffer over the next few years having lost a mother/step-mother and friend. Dominic will miss out raising his youngest daughters and grandchildren. The loss of life is huge overall.

I agree, it was a big mistake that will live with everyone for the rest of their lives!! I hope Dom gets the help that he needs, and the kids will find peace.

Does anyone communicate with Dom and, if so, do you know if he would be interested in hearing from an old friend or would he rather have his privacy?

Jennifer's family has turned this tragedy into an even bigger one. They have not only let this horrible thing consume their lives with hate, but they use it as an excuse to act out and become truly horrible people. They bad-mouth and slander the names of Dom's family, most notably his parents and his children. They refuse to look inward and see what they have become.
Jennifer would be embarassed by their actions. She did nothing but try to bring people together and her family has managed to tear people apart.
I urge all of them to look inside themselves and ask what they would do if one of their children committed this horrible crime. Would they be able to turn their backs on their child, even if they knew what that kid did was wrong? These mothers who have produced kids who have dabbled in cocaine use, who have impregnanted highschoolers. These mothers who have cheated on their husbands and are now drinking themselves into oblivion.
The matriarch, if you can call her that, has burdened her children with MANY suicide attempts over the years and has a 30-something year old son who is the ipitome of creepy. He still lives with her and have even been accused of sexual harassment in the past. He might turn out to be a rapist for all any of us know.
And THESE are the people passing judgement on others and pretending to be so self righteous. It's disgusting
