Obesity is a far bigger health issue in Olathe than smoking, but I don't see a ban on public eating of french fries being brought forth. I resent those who wish to take away the rights of adults to make their own decisions.

Obesity and smoking just kind of seem to go together. You have 1 heart its your engine of your body so why people want to kill it is beyond me. I could care less about how fat some one is from eating thats a personal choice. Just because certain people want to chow on double cheese burgers, chicken nuggets, super size fries, apple pies, and then wash it all down with a tub of diet soda doesnt bother me a bit because it does not change my own health. However when that same person is finished eating the noon meal and then lights up a smoke and I have to suck it in my lungs then it becomes my problem. Non Smokers should not have to tolerate smoke in any public place. I dont see the debate. Smoking is a personal choice and when a smoker lights up when other people are around we all share in the delight. The non smoker doesnt have a choice when smokers light up. Then you have the people that smoke in the privacy of the car. Thats great no problem enjoy it and puff it all inside your lungs so we non smokers dont have to smell it and put the smoke in our lungs. Just do us a favor and keep the thing in your car instead of throwing it out the window when you are finished. So now again a non smoker has to share with a smoker the choice that they make by smoking by seeing cig butts all over the ground and getting your car hit by a lit cig going down 435. You all know what I a talking about. I also love seeing some one smoking in the car and the windows are rolled up with children in the car. Do the KIDS have a choice? I think not. GRRRRRRR! Go Marge Vogt!!!!!!

I (a smoker) feel that all of my rights don't count anymore. I would be in favor of a ban, if they would give people an option by posting on the front of the business whether or not it is a smoking establishment. That way the business that allow smokers could still accomidate us smokers and the non-smokers could choose business's that don't allow smoking. Let us have places where we can go and be allowed to do a legally allowed activity. Thank You!

Rights for smokers? lol
I smoke off and on and can see both sides of the coin on the issue
but side with the ban and restrictions in public places. As
for infringing on my rights in my car or otherwise it's none of
the local gov. business.

The irony is most city, state and federal gov. would be fiscally
strapped if it wasn't for us smokers. Taxation on cigs/alcohol/gas soc
called 'sin tax' pays for most of the infrastructure and payroll
of the same peeps wanting to ban it.=)

karma.

p.s. How can Gas be called a sin?
