It may not be language that you'd want to your mother to hear you say, but is an angry burst of potty-mouth worth 30 days in jail? Mike Shahroki, 41, of Leawood faces disorderly conduct charges that he says stem from a case of road rage along 135th Street in Overland Park.

This is just dumb. Wasting tax payers money on court for someone saying a few choice curse words? Sounds like the guys was just a little overly sensitive and needs to bring tissues around with him if he's going to cry like this all the time. Man up!

The underlining lesson from all of this is NEVER give a statement to Police, no matter how simple you might think. Always lawyer up; this shows you exactly why you should.

He admitted to using foul language ---> Charges

Other person did not ---> No Charges

Ok three words...Freedom of Speech! Grow up America and take off your diapers. OMG! Someone said a vulgar obscenity! On top of that the complainant admitted, ADMITTED to using course words as well. A continuance judge? This should be laughed out of the courtroom and the filing officer should be given notice to stop wasting the court's time and taxpayer's money!

Idiots. Both of them should be fined for wasting the city's time. In fact, the responding officer should have just tazz'd them and been on his way.

Poor Mike Nolen..he's so sensitive. Mike S. is just the neighborhood bully. The Overland Park PD is at fault here, they have allowed and (made it escalate) to court dates, what a waste of time. The OPPD should have said well there were no phyical injuries - just poor Mike Nolen sensitive feelings hurt by the bully, and dismissed it from there. But Overland Park is about the money, if there isn't a law for using profanity towards another, they'll soon have one on the books. Anything to fine someone for! My parents taught me as a child - "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never harm me." If everyone got bent out of shape over everything said they don't like the Police would be answering calls left and right. Come one people, let's be real (and mature here)!!

I work near the Mike S. When the police came to his job to arrest him for this incident, let me tell you.... There were 4 police cars and at least 7 to 8 uniformed officers that came to get him!!!! Talk about over the top!!!!

It won't hold up in court -- or will be tossed out on appeal. The ACLU has won too many cases like this. No matter what the police like to try to push on us, we do have freedom of speech, as written into the Constitution.

I don't particularly like the word myself, finding it a term usually used by people lacking a broader vocabulary; however, at times it has its uses.

The plain and simple matter is that speech, no matter how vulgar, is protected. The exceptions are inciting violence or panic (crying fire in a crowded theater), certain restrictions on students' speech in schools that may be deemed disruptive to the educative process (and the Roberts court seems to have narrowed that considerably), and very few others. Your employer may restrict your speech by firing you for certain issues, unless this breaches certain protected civil rights (not all are protected).

But we do not, yet, live in a police state where you can go to jail for the F-bomb and the police can get away with it. Sorry. That's why I'm a card carrying member of the ACLU.

Tell me Ozwald how what he said infringed on Mike Nolen's rights? Nolen followed him, let me repeat followed him into the parking lot and continued the incident. Also if you would READ the whole story, Nolen admitted to using the same type of language. You really are not that ignorant, start acting like it.

He said a little more than just the F-bomb. The vulgarity of what he said, along with the F-bomb, is what got him in trouble . . . obviously.
