How sad for this family - I know the pain. Please, please folks - make sure your children (and adults) are wearing seat belts at all times.

why do people not put kids in seat belts??? This is horrible that a small child had to die because of an irresponsible parent.

My sympathy to the family. Please always take the few minutes it takes to be sure everyone is buckled in before taking off. What's a few minutes compared to a lifetime. Remember, IT'S THE LAW!!!!!

So very sad that this family now has to pay the price of not obeying the law. My car does not go into gear until everyone is wearing their seatbelts. Parents, what were you thinking?

There should be a law that puts parents in jail for manslaughter for crap like this. This was a senseless death. These children should have been in seat belts!!

I will never understand why people don't instill in their children how important it is to use seat belts. I say instill because you can buckle your kids in and they can take them off at anytime while you are driving and you may not know. Making sure they know it's very important helps to keep them buckled in. I won't even let an adult ride with me unless they buckle up, not only because it protects me from being fined but because seat belts save lives. I feel for the family having to bury their child.

One more thing, how fast were they going that they 'spun violently'? Seat belts and caution, people.

Ditto to everyone. Not only seatbelts, but depending on her size, it is likely that she should have still been in a booster.

Just thinking that the adults in the car will be far harder on themselves than anyone possibly could. They will never forget the mistakes that were made. They don't need harsh judgement from the public. Their grief must be overwhelming.

I can't imagine the guilt and condemnation the parents are going through right now. I have been there... If I had to stop for each time one of my kids let themselves out of their seat belt or also unfastened their brother or sister I would never get to my destination. I am glad the back doors had Parent Locks on them or else they would have been opening the doors too. I THANK GOD FOR DIVINE PROTECTON. I am not a neglectful parent... but keeping track of 3 or more small children is a handful.. and "time outs" don't always work for not being in your seat belt and corporal punishment is considered being abusive. My youngest is 9 and they all where their seat belts now. I am praying for this family. Being judgemental and critical is easy... Extending Grace and Forgiveness is rare.

When will parents decide that their children are important enough to MAKE them wear seatbelts? I imagine that Mrs. Correa has learned that lesson, too bad it's to late for Elizabeth.

Hmm,I guess I'm hardcore, but when a chid DIES, I get a little "judgemental and critical". I don't know what kind of kids Father of 6 has, or what kind of parent he is,but all of my five children do, and always have worn their seatbelts. Its not even up for discussion. Like SAD said, we don't even go into gear till all are belted in. As for unbuckling when in motion, we have a light and bell that goes off when anyone disengages their belt. Not like we need it, our kids don't take off the belts because WE AS PARENTS have made it NON-NEGOTIABLE...It's our job, duty and honor to protect our children.I take that very seriously.

That was my thought exactly! I have had other parents with 8 year olds saying, "your son is still in a booster seat?" I say, much better than my son being decapitated by a seat belt! The laws are there for a reason. Parents need to wear the seat belt too! If you body is flinging all over the car, you could kill your child that is properly buckled in. Why take the chance??

Try putting six car seats in an SUV

if you are able to have that many kids then you should be able to have the vehicle and seats required to handle that many kids. Our kids know the dangers of not being in seat belts. Our youngest dropped something once and begged and begged her older brother to unbuckle real fast and get it but he would not, because we have as Kurgan above said we have instilled that in our children not only is it the law its for your own safety IF we were in a wreck it could keep you from flying out of this car and getting hurt real bad or worse. Please parents if you can afford seats there are places to get them and for the older kids that dont' need seats make sure they buckle up!!!! I feel so sorry for this family having to live with the fact that had they just had their kids buckled in that little girl would still be here today :(

What is wrong with you people? It was just that one day we forgot to wear our damn seatbelts. Even if we had worn them, my younger brother and sister who were buckuled up in their booster seats with a seatbelt, still flew out of the car! You guys are rude and dont even think about how my parents feel right now when thoughless people like you are over here posting comments online saying it was their fault my sister is gone.

The post about six kids is not about you or your family, if you read through someone said they didn't have room in their car for 6 car seats...that's how six kids were brought into it. I am sorry for what your family has been and is going through. God bless
