Been in this town over 45 years and have watched it become just another part of Houston. The crime is way up. Break ins and now home invasion. Auto break ins are an everyday occurance. It,s not safe here anymore. And HEB OMG they have robbers in the parking lot all the time. 24 hour fitness across the street that parking lot is the worst. This place is NOT SAFE anymore. The people on here who say we are stupid or poor must sell Real Estate here. The schools Jr. High and up are full of snobs and fights and bully incidents happen. Mind you the teachers are great but the classroom is sometimes so wild they have to call in the Police Officer at the Jr. High. Maybe the new Jr. High will help with the anger issues. Don't forget the Jr. High prinicpal got fired/moved for making the Jr. High students watch a Muslim assembly without parents permission. That was a mess look it up on internet. No Friendswood is not the little safe hometown anymore. That was gone in the early 80's. CRIME IS WAY UP HERE!!!
Here since 1985

My children graduated in the 2000's. Academically, FISD if good campared to "other schools of it's size". However, due to the gang activity, physical assaults, auto vandalism, and shootings, both of my children completed there education elsewhere. The one in high school left the school system and went straight to college; he received his earlier education in another school district. The younger one I sent to a private christian school. The FISD taxes are very high, and I had to pay $100K to educate my kids elsewhere where they would be safe. If you have a strong family unit, they will survive; mine are doing quite well now.

Possibly moving to Friendswood.I am a SAHM,hubby will work in Houston,we have one 8yr old girl.Research indicates Friendswood offers all we would like in every way. There are so many different sections that I would like some help narrowing down my search. What would be considered the "better" areas?Which school district is more desirable? Is this a hard community to break into socially or are people open to new arrivals?I am most concerned for my daughter.ANY and all advise/comments would be greatly appreciated.Thank you all in advance.
I can tell you this. You will NEVER be accepted in Friendswood, and you kid will be shut out at school. friendswood people are th e worsed people in this great state. They clam to be Christian, what else needs to be said. They are full of hate for anyone not born in there and lived there their whole life. I would live in Bacliff or San Leon before I would live and put my family through the pud-people of friendswood.
Really

For all of the people that are talking about crime in Friendswood. GET OUT IN THE REAL WORLD AND YOU WILL SEE CRIME. I live in Friendswood and moved here to get away from all of the city bs!! If Mel thinks this place is bad she is living in a Disney movie. Most of the crime is just kids being destructive. Rape, murder, armed robbery, very very rare here. I can walk from one end of this city to the other all night long and maybe get stopped by cops for looking suspicious and Im white!!! Try that in sw Houston mel and you will appreciate every part of this city.

Moved here in 1986 and have never regretted it. We made the choice to pay Friendswood taxes rather than private school tuition. Schools are great - most of the students go on to college. Daughter made a perfect score on her ACT and scored in the 97th percentile on her SAT. I think most of her 2000 graduating class went to Texas A&M. She was one of 6800 students accepted for the graduating class of 2004 from over 38,000 applicants.

Crime has increased here but it has increased significantly more in the larger suburban areas. Many of the parents moving here don't realize they are bringing the problems with drugs and problems in the schools here with them (i.e. their own children) We have a great police force, a wonderful volunteer fire department and a fairly ok city government.(Too many tax & spenders for my liking).

I am looking for my retirement home and hope to find it here in Friendswood.

okay I lived in NYC, lower Manhattan, so don't tell me d**k about how much money and class you got, because I have it and I've seen it all, I've seen people who invited in your f***** town so it could even have the f***** school that it has.
And by the way I am 25 year old, I must say Friendswood is a good town but what I hate about it is exactly what the BNW said, all the stuck up inbred losers who in debt up to their eye balls and they believe everyone who is not white or republican is a piece of sh*t garbage, and I know you f*g*ts on this post, you know who you are, bunch of sc*m out there with no real incomes just hating straight up, f*** you.

And what side of the tracks did you come from? I read your comment and while not even knowing you, you really showed your asset. Dont know where you get the inbred from unless you are speaking about your family.

There are plenty of them available now. People that can afford to move out are leaving for better neighborhoods.
