I agree! I belive she is going to have alot to prove in court. A man who is an EMS and cares for people on a daily basis and has a stellar record and plays an active role in the community is not going to throw it all away for a 13 yr. old little girl. Just doesnt add up!

You have no clue do you? Just because he is an EMS does not mean that he is not capable of harm.
Teachers, Doctors, yes, stellar citizens sometimes do bad things! If you read the full story, this happened in early July and they have just made an arrest. That pretty well says that the DA must feel that he has a pretty good case against this person. Looks to me like they have taken the time to dot all their i's and cross all their t's before they picked this one up. If he is indeed found guilty, I hope he is jailed for a very long time.

Thank Thank Thank you so much Another Mom. People don't realize what my family has gone through. The D.A. took the charges after 2 months because we made sure everything was taken care of before he was arrested. It was frustrating ,heartbreaking to watch my child go through so much pain.I am in EMS also.So this isn't just a person looking in.I worked with this man.He became my friend,My co-worker.I trusted him because of his "steller"record. But here's another thing...The night I confronted him about it,he tried to commit suicide and his his suicide letter he wrote to me and my daughter saying he was sorry for what he did to us...Do u need anything else? But again Thank you Another mom.I appreciate your words.

I am so sad for you and your daughter. You will get through this though. Have faith. I don't know why people are so quick to condemn a rape victim, and especially a very young rape victim. I would suspect that the few negative comments on this forum are from his family and/or friends. Just trying to discredit you and your daughter.
What they need to look at is the fact that he is 29 years old and the child is 13 years old. Who ever they are, they would feel completely different if it was their child! I thank you for fighting this battle and getting this pervert behind bars! So many others may not have the courage and determination to see it through. I am sure it is not an easy task going through what you and your daughter have had to endure. Hang in there and know that there are people that are supporting you even though they do not know you.

Accused EMT stayed on duty after allegations

09:14 AM CDT on Wednesday, September 19, 2007

Sara McDonald / The Daily News

FRIENDSWOOD — A volunteer medic accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl was allowed to go on ambulance runs during a two-month investigation that led to his arrest, officials said.

Josh Barret Kiessling, 29, was arrested last week and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child after the girl’s family members alleged to police that she had been raped on July 8.

Police Chief Bob Wieners said that the emergency medical service department was aware of the claims when the family filed the report, but he said he met to inform emergency medical service chief Lisa Camp a few days later.

Although Camp told The Daily News last week that Kiessling was placed on leave four days after the girl’s family reported the incident, she said Tuesday that the leave was unrelated to the investigation.

That leave did not restrict him from going to the station or assisting on calls. It was only on Sept. 12, when Kiessling was charged, that he was formally suspended.

Camp said Kiessling wasn’t allowed to go on calls after a July 30 meeting during which she learned what the charges would be and the full scope of the allegations.

She said her records indicate he hasn’t been on duty since July 25.

Volunteers in the fire department told The Daily News that Kiessling was going on runs until his arrest.

“This is not the fire department’s business,” Camp said.“It’s a private matter.”

Volunteer fire department president Rick McFee, who oversees the fire and medical divisions of the department, said Kiessling might have gone on runs after the allegations surfaced.

McFee said that the executive board removed Kiessling from the schedule after the July 30 meeting but a few weeks later he was allowed to go back on duty because no criminal charges had been filed.

“When no action was taken by anyone, he was put back on the schedule,” McFee said.“No charges were filed. Nothing was done. Police were telling us they were still working through the process. It’s entirely possible that he did run a few calls.”

McFee said the situation was difficult to deal with because so many rumors had spread.

“We’re in a very, very difficult situation no matter what we do,” he said.“Why didn’t we do something? We did what we felt was necessary based on the information we had.”

What a shame small minded pathetic people would blame a victim, there is no excuse for the first few comments in this post. It is sickening to think bla bla bla, vick and hobo are allowed to have any input in society, I hope they are not emergency responders or even voters.
On the other hand I know Josh, he is a fine medic...I have seen him in action. I pray this comes out a different way for him and the little girl. Josh is dedicated and skilled. People make grave errors in decisions, thats what the criminal justice system is for and why its full. I beleive in that system it's what our soldiers dye for daily, our system of goverment. The DA has acted because they have a case, but right wrong or indifferent Josh is innocent until proven guilty. I pray he is innocent, I really hope this works out were the victim finds peace and Josh is cleared. As a father of a 14 year old I pray if guilty he is punished to the full extent of the law in the lowest most dangerous hellish prison we have, were of course he will hopefully find Jesus and forgiveness in eternal life has he rots in prison.

Being as i have been involved in this from day one through all of this Vic, hobo, and bla bla bla, Yall are no beter than he is and our crimanl justice system will hopefully give him what he deserves. I knew josh as well or at least I thought I did. When I confronted him with this matter he did what he does so well when put on the spot and never come out and say it but illude to the facts. I was told face to face from his own mouth I dont know what to say execpt that im sorry and i never ment to hurt anyone. He the appoligized again in his suicide note that he was sorry to hurt our family. So in regaurds to he was a well respected emt mabey at one time but there is nothing respectable about what he did. I have no respect for him or those who threw us out and sided with him. He has ruined a little girls life forever she will never forget what he did as hard as she may try she will be haunted by it for ever so before you jump up and say he was a respected emt think what if that was my daughter, then tell me how you would feel and what you would think.

When does this case go to court? Why is he out of jail on bond? I hope he has a monitoring device or something!! I know he is supposedly, innocent untill proven guilty in a court of law, but it sure sounds like he is "guilty as sin".
Sure don't want him near my little girl!

being someone who was rape/molested at age 8 for about 4 yrs. I know how she would feel. But i have never said anything to anyone of who did it, what, and how. I dont know what it feels to have that out and being taken care of criminally but, i feel like it would cause alot more emotions, and hardships. My situation however was male to male. i know am in my 20's think about it now and then but i have been able to put that behind me.

EMS chief: I didn't know about allegations

By Sara McDonald

Friendswood: 2 allowed to go on ambulance runs during investigations

FRIENDSWOOD — The Friendswood volunteer emergency medical service didn’t know about two instances of alleged sexual misconduct by its volunteers, mainly because the accused volunteers didn’t report the problems, chief Lisa Camp said.

Neither Josh Barret Kiessling, 29, or Daniel Logan Currie, 19, told Camp about the investigations into claims of sex-related crimes, she said.

Currie was convicted in Harris County in February of indecency with a child, stemming from a February 2005 incident involving him, then 17, and a victim younger than 14, Harris County sheriff’s office records show. He was sentenced to four years of probation in February, a district court clerk said. However, he isn’t listed on the sex offender registry, something Camp says she looks at frequently.

“I’m upset I didn’t know about that,” she said.“If something happens, we ask them to tell us what’s going on before it happens.”

She said volunteers are voted in only after attending meetings and passing two background checks — one done by the department and one that the state does before issuing licenses to medics.

Camp said she’s been attacked for not acting promptly when police began investigating Kiessling, who was arrested Sept. 12 and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.

She said she didn’t know what the claims were for almost a month.

Camp said she noticed rumors and infighting in the department after the family filed the report and put Kiessling and another volunteer on leave until they agreed to talk to her.

But Kiessling was allowed to go on ambulance runs until Camp learned what the allegations were.

Camp said she asked Police Chief Bob Wieners on Aug. 12 whether rumors she’d overheard about Kiessling had any basis.

“I knew there was something going on, but no one said anything about a sexual assault,” she said.“When nobody says anything for a while, you think there is nothing to it.”

Camp said when she learned the allegations involved sexual assault, she prohibited Kiessling from coming to the station or going on ambulance runs.

Wieners said he would notify the city if any city employee was the subject of a criminal investigation. However, he said that because the emergency medical service is a contractor of the city, the service wasn’t notified.

“In matters that relate to ongoing investigations, we don’t usually comment or put things out publicly,” he said.“In this case, I shared information with Lisa at her request. I thought it was probably in the city’s best interest and the EMS department’s best interest.”

Camp said she has been blamed for allowing Kiessling to go on ambulance runs.

“Everyone is attacking us because he wasn’t suspended,” she said.“I honestly didn’t know. I did the best I could when I knew what happened.”

Camp said officials discussed looking into every volunteer during a recent board meeting.

“I want justice for the people,” she said.“No one likes to think that something like that could have happened to a child.”

In a community as tight as Friendswood, how could she not know what the allegations were? It is not like the EMS there has that large a group of people. From what I understand the mother of the VICTIM was also in the EMS there. So how could the allegations not be known, especially such a serious problem as an accusation of rape of a 13 year old!
