Lets face it, St. Francois County has gone down the drain. I have lived here all my life and I am ashamed because it is me and my brothers generation pulling it down. There is no more idea of pride in this area as what is needed. I know times are hard and the economy sucks but hey even if you have to take a job flipping burgers take it. And as for the criminals in the area our government should really stop being afraid of you and your scum and start putting you behind bars. WE NEED TO BE THE CHANGE IN AMERICA.

i agree! They need to stop handing out the welfare so easy and start handing out birth control instead.Im tired of working everyday and paying for people to sit home and have free medical and welfare handed to them. I do realize their are people that do need it and im ok with that, its all the dead beats that really get on my nerves. I have never in my life seen so many men on welfare, why cant they get out and work? St.Francois county has really went down hill with all the drugs and crime, its really sad.Its hard to try and do anything about all this crap because while we are at work 8 to 10 hrs a day to pay our bills they have all the time in the world to keep trashing our towns. Theres got to be a better way to get people off welfare and get them to work! just sayin!

Seems like someone in state government could come up with a plan of action. Along the lines of people drawing welfare having to put in work time cleaning streets or building sidewalks. Hell, if they put even half of welfare recipients in a state mandated job & paid them even minimum wage who knows what would happen for our economy. Also, mandatory lab drug testing for all recipients sounds like a dream.

I think a socialist government has its positive attributes, though I can't name many. It's obviously making a general population that is selfish & wants a hand out. The difference in the attitude of welfare recipients now to 10 years ago is crazy. I remember people being ashamed of needing government assistance, ashamed that they couldn't support a family on their own. These days people practically brag about how much food stamps & TANF they receive. Meanwhile the middle class works to pay for it & can't even get standardized healthcare for our children or preventive care for ourselves. Sick & sad!

Could not agree more! I work my butt off and live paycheck to paycheck while most of the people my age are bragging about not working and getting $$ on food stamps and other assistance while I can't even get a little help from going to the Er for a huge allergic reaction but they can get it 100% payed for when they go for a broken nail it really makes me mag

It's not just your county, it is the entire country. In the end, we can only blame ourselves. Look at our presidential candidates. How did we wind up with choices like them? Every election year we go for the guy with the biggest lies. It's like we want to live in a shit hole. Now we have men who want nothing to help the citizens, only themselves and their cooperate buddies. Our nation will deteriorate further over the next four years. Maybe after the next term is up, Americans will brighten up and take the government back, and demand that the elected official will serve us and not themselves.

I agree with this post. It's almost as if the government wants to make the populace completely reliant. It's scary to think where this country is headed!

I lived in East TN most my life and moved here almost 2 years ago. I'm very impressed by all the nice people I've met here since. I found a really good job and I'm making more money then I ever have. Sure, there's problems here, but all and all I think this is a great place to live.

I do like raising my 5 children here, its a good place to raise a family.Im just tired of working so hard to pay my house payment and put food on the table ( that i pay cash for ) and paying huge co pays at the doctors office while people get all those things for free. I cant afford to purchase health insurance.I am proud of the fact that my husband and i take care of our family without any assistant,i just feel like its handed out so freely these days.We could quit our jobs and get on welfare but we wasnt raised that way. I know people that have been on welfare all their lives and was taut how to do it. I just think it should be harder to get welfare these days. We will keep plugging along and pray we never have to get on welfare because its meant for short term help not a life long free ride.

Building a prison in your backyard attracts prison followers and therein lies your problem. Blame the city for allowing it to be built.

That's a nationwide problem
