This leftist and her socialist agendas will hopefully never be elected. She is already stating she will have to raise taxes.... i love it the first day and straight to the raise taxes card. Typical liberal doesn't bother to see if there is any way to cut waste and big government first nope just play the we have to raise taxes card. laughable.

You obviously didn't read the article. Just how many make over $500,000 a year? And those folks do not pay their fair share of taxes. Pawlenty never solved anything with his dictatorial unallotments and accounting scams. He only postponed the problem.

You obviously can't think through empty campaign promises. How much would you have to raise taxes on the few people that make over $500,000 per year to make up a $7 billion shortfall. Lets do some math, shall we?

Just for the sake of numbers lets say 10,000 people make over $500k per year in the state. Its a lot, and I think many more than actually make over $500k, and I will look up those numbers later, but we will start there.

Averaging all the incomes, lets make another assumption and say that the average is $1,000,000 per year among those 10,000.

Raising their personal income tax by 1%, the amount Kelliher and Pogomiller proposed last year, that would mean an additional $10,000 from each, times 10,000 people. Guess what? That equals $100 million. You still have to find another $7 billion.

Still think you can balance the budget on the backs of the wealthiest taxpayers?

And those folks, IN YOUR OPINION, do not pay their fair share of taxes.

OH my if she or any of the ilk get into the Governor's seat from the DFL party we have had it. Roll up the streets and head out of town. It will be a lefty love feast. Hopefully with the election we can thin the heard of the loonies a bit.

Timmy being the moderate that he was at least attempted to stop the bleeding.

I did indeed read the article but I am able to figure out on my own (without government help) that there is no way she will only tax those making $500,000 or more. This is just a campaign tactic that will be forgotten once elected.

Here is an idea that most socialist liberals just don't get.... maybe look at cutting waste and spending instead of raising taxes? I know it's just to complicated for you liberals to figure out.

Why do you care about taxes Bob? You don't have any money for the government to get.

With all due respect, the tax argument is getting so old, even our Minnesota Vikings have stopped living on the cheap.

Yes, programs that don't work or aren't necessary and cost a lot of money should go away.

However, some programs are worth the cost; like paying Viking Defensive End, Jared Allen, or paying Joe Mauer to stay on the Twins.

If we took your view, our beloved Minnesota would be about as attractive as driving through New Jersey. Balance is the key my friend.

Balance, absolutely!

It's time to tighten our belts and get our priorities straight. Cut entertainment expenses, just like families on a budget do.

We have many beautiful and free things to do in MN. Time for our kids to learn how to enjoy them again.

She will also get rid of the investment interest deduction and mortgage interest deductions. Getting rid of the mortgage interest deduction and replacing it with a $400 credit like she wanted to do last session would have cost me a lot in extra taxes paid.

But in her playbook, its not a tax increase, but a deduction decrease, resulting in no new taxes, just new permanent revenues.

As wonderful it would be that MAK be governor, it's not going to happen in a sexist racist state like Minnesota. The rubes are going to vote for yet another white man, R.T.

Yep, you are so right, a racist state that voted in majority for Obama. If I bothered rating comments, there wouldn't be a clueless designation large enough.

Don't confuse the issue with facts now bob. Kelliher is pulling out the old class warfare, at twice the premium the president used..........didn't Obama promise not to raise taxes on anyone making under $250k? The hamster wheel started turning in Maggie's head, and if $250 was good,$500k would be better, no? No matter that it fixes nothing, but it makes everyone making less than $500k happy.........

Campaign promises from "Maggie I won't raise your taxes, I will just take away all your deductions Kelliher.". Vote for change, its all you will have left.
