Assurant is a joke! Ass-U-Rant! oops!
hey...assurant is good for people who are on welfare. don't knock it. If you only want to work for a hot minute, assurant is the place, because they are gonna fire you if you try to set up camp!

I have worked here at Assurant longer than any other job I've ever had. It is a business, not a charity. They expect results. They expect people to show up to work. And if you don't like working here, no one put a gun to your head and made you show up in the first place.
Is it perfect??? Of course not. They do bend over backwards to help people with families but you're right: more people get terminated for family/child care related absences then for any other reason.
But someone actually believes they got fired because of their sexual orientation??? Are you f@#$%^ng kidding me?! Our office has more people who live "alternative" lifestyles than any other place in town. Our insurance even allows you to cover your domestic partner and his or her children.
If you think this job sucks, wait until mom and dad kick you out of the basement......errr I mean your apartment, and you're actually forced to go out into the world and make a REAL sacrifice for your family. Spend some time digging ditches or serving in the military.
God bless the ignorance of youth. God help you when you discover that the universe does not revolve around you.
Whewwww glad to hear someone speak up for their employer. Again most companies have the same issues, but call/service centers require accountablilty that I'm sure they stressed during the interview. It's amazing we just want a check but don'y wanna work. A lot of times the forums have miserable people posting and make it look bad for the company. Hey I was employed with a company for many many years. The company let me go and of course I did not agree but I dd not put the organization down because of my isolated issue. Anyway....working is what you make of it!

Assurant sucks eggs. They are firing people left and right for no reasons to cut the bottom line at home office and satellite offices. New people and those there for 10-15+ years are getting axed. They are another crap insurance company who hire sociopathic managers with no morals or ethics. Pathetic.

If you think you were fired because of your sexual preference, you must be stoned. You have no idea the amount of work that goes into "firing" someone from that building. The supervisors don't have that authority, and the HR department is bound by legal guidelines and also a very strict termination process. If you were terminated from this place of business, there was something else involved that had nothing at all to do with your sexual preference, and you were also given every opportunity to correct the issue on your own before it got that far. Bottom line, just like any other job, if you were fired, it's your own fault. Think long and hard about this the next time you want to do something stupid on a jobsite that costs you your employment and then want to blame the company that let you go.

A great job opportunity for those willing to apply themselves. They were very supportive when I went thru a hard time in my personal life. Sometimes it seems like there's a glass ceiling, but it could be that I need to work a little harder to get to where I want to be in the company.

A great job for unskilled labor. Better suited for those bent toward customer service.

This is not accurate at all. Most states have "at will" policies that allow employers to fire people "at will" with no warning...period. Assurant is taking advantage of this to fire people nationwide to shore up company profits and avoid paying severance. They are getting rid of 91 people in Birmingham, AL....just announced 300 people will be axed in Orange County, CA...those left in Kansas City and other offices have to pick up the slack or be fired. Assurant, like other insurance companies, is breaking labor laws and deserves to be sued into oblivion.

Why would your employer even know you were homosexual if you weren't advertising it or flaunting it in their face. None of my previous employers have ever asked me what my sexual preference was, and the subject is never mentioned. I think there must be some other reasons you were fired or perhaps you and your partner were displaying your affections toward one another too brazenly. I suspect if a man and woman were showing sexual affection toward one another on the job they would come under scrutiny if not fired also.

Assurant Toronto Canada is also pretty bad. About 80% of the marketing department employees are friends or former colleagues of the Marketing Director. The management seems to support nepotism. The Marketing Director better know what she is doing because if she is "packaging off" people to leave, she better see some return on investment or she'll have egg on her face.

I agree! The Marketing Department is the Vanessa fan club. Hiring buddies does not mean you hire the most qualified. Ambitious people should not work in the marketing department at Assurant if you aren't existing buddies with the Director.

Assurant is getting horrible. They are outsourcing many jobs (development) to India. The healthcare plan gets worse by the minute, higher deductables, out of pocket, less benefits. they let go people who are older and there's NO loyalty. they rearrange the structure just about every other month now to save money. they cut back and expect workers to work harder with tiny raises. they exploit you. working here is a nightmare. good people get left behing. kick asses and good talkers get promoted. please DON'T work here. maybe this is happening everywhere now. it's bad here. i'm almost out of here but for others, please be careful.

You are so lost. No wonder you don't work for Assurant anymore. I've always gotten paid what I am suppose to. As a matter of fact, we are sent a timecard to review every pay period before any checks are sent out. Did you not check it? Secondly, if you have a Dr's note excusing you from work, there is nothing our HR dept can do, so you must have your story wrong. Third, this is a call center, how can you work if you can't talk. Did you want them to pay you to sit around and surf the net all day? Fourth, you can go to the restroom whenever you need to, you simply need to notify a member of management or workforce before you dissapear. Unless they always find you somewhere else other than the restroom. You don't really sound like a grown woman. Let me guess, you just turned 21.

I worked at Assurant for several years until I had a temporary health issue and was out 2 weeks on FMLA. Wow, did the management attitude towards me change. They looked for any reason under the sun to write me up. I have so many e-mails from my dumb-ass manager P.Rick Ramby that thought I had done something wrong, when he did not know the policy himself.(Hired in due to his ugly fat wife working in Human Resources) They finally put a few pathetic things together to fire me. Their biggest issue was a lie and refused to investigate it, even though I had a manager witness the event another manager lied about(she was embarrassed, because I called her out on not knowing procedures, which was my job!!). It is a high-school mentality with self centered a-hole management and worthless Human Resources. They can go to hell!! Particularly private P.Rick Ramby, and his Pee Wee Herman loser boss David Susag!! Sheri DeWine was the most worthless, useless HR rep I have ever met. Assurant sucks!!! Thank god, I am no longer there. What a waste of time. I am better off now and have a real future. If you have no choice but to work for Assurant due to the few Springfield OH opportunities, keep looking for other opportunities to leave ASS-U-RANT asap... don't wait!!

I also lost my voice after working at Assurant. Keep in mind I have been working in call centers for a decade. and they would do nothing. I know of a couple employees who've experienced this and I'm begining to wonder if there is something in the building that is causing it to happen.

I worked at assurant for almost 3 years and loved it! It was quite different for my previous field of choice prior to being employed at assurant! I did have a longing to continue with my nursing career.. Which I now need a break from and have recently reapplied with assurant.. It is a great opportunity whether you're younger or older..
