I'm sorry I just don't agree with the Boone Mayor. Mixed drinks helped turn Lenoir around and has helped Blowing Rock. It did bring in restaurants, motels, etc. There are no bars or strip clubs. It is all how you monitor it after it comes in. You say it will increase DWIs. Well Duh! If someone wants a drink right now do you not think they will drive 6 miles to Blowing Rock to get it. You have to look at the pros and the cons. The cons listed just aren't real ... the pros are huge.

if people are goin to drink and drive they don't need no restaurants, ect to do this in. i mean there are thousand of people killed in boone each year by drunk drivers...and why is this?? i mean we can't blame that on the mixed drinks being served in the restaurants! it also really bothers me that all the preachers that are against this are up there preaching and trying the best to keep this "evil" out of boone, all i got to say is they need take a look at your own kids, i know there kids and i know how they are, don't get me wrong i have nothing against preachers at all, but it all needs to start at home before you try to take on the whole county.

I'm pretty sure (by which I mean absolutely sure) that 1,000 is a gross misrepresentation. Given that Boone's population is a whopping 15,000, that would be almost 7% of the town getting knocked off each year. Yeah, I don't think so...

At any rate, Boone is now getting liquor by the drink, thanks to the referendum concluding today.
