If NY had done another six miles of Rt 15 onto four lane back in the early 1970s when they did the six miles from Presho to Painted Post, I wonder how much cheaper it would have been and how many lives would have been saved.
If there were a roadside memorial for each victim of crashes on that remaining six miles of two lane highway it would pretty much be a solid wall.

Lawrenceville is now so quiet; they turned their one red light into a flashing caution light!
That town has been on THE route north and south for this section of NY since the invention of asphalt. Sure going to be some changes there now. I don't think it can support five gas stations per 1/2 mile anymore.

It is great not having all the traffic. A little noisier where I live, but worth it.

It is great thing to have the highway in, but I think the town of lawrencville will suffer from it. I went throught there the other day, and Brownies was empty. I heard he had layed some people off. Sad to see. But on the other hand the lives that will be saved is the big picture. New York needs to get going. I have friends that live on 15 just past the old brownies going North, It is one of the most dangerous places to pull out of.

I have been driving this road for 30 years. Watching the Pennsylvania progress has been positive and heartening (all the way down to Harrisburg!) New York, however, has done NOTHING to improve this ride other than spend tens of millions on the enormous joke of an interchange at the 15/17 junction. It embarrasses me to think of how MUCH I am taxed for how LITTLE we all have to show for it!

The one thing that bothers me and it goes with the other comments is how they put the off ramp onto old 15 in Lindley. Can't you imagine what it is going to be like in the winter going down that steep hill to meet old 15? I see old 15 in PA is now route 287...

I wish NY would get a move on... They are also working from the Turkey Ranch South down to Williamsport now and NY doesn't seem to be doing a thing.

What does NY have to do? Once you hit 15 in NY you take 17 to 390 and that interstate follows 15 right up to the lake...isn't everything already there?

In the Lindley area the location of the highway has been determined (took years). Houses have been vacated and readied for demolition. State Line Camping business is building it's new store at the Presho exit in preparation for their move.
What you call a joke of an intersection is what is required for two interstate highways to merge together. That was required before the south route can be a true interstate highway. You just can't put red lights and stop signs on an interstate!

Iknow. Lawrenceville was the great part of my trip north...a benchmark at the truckstop gas station. Wow. When I went thru there last week.. I was like, "where's my Lawrenceville"?

Wow! I went thru 15 last week and I could not understand what happened to my beloved Lawrenceville. I Twilight Zone experience for me. Did not know about the changes.

I can't wait to head up north/"home" next month! We live in NC now, and have for the past 12 yrs. Only make the trip in Apr. and Sept. It's been fantastic to have more and more highway completed each time. I do feel badly for Lawrenceville, as well as for the Turkey Ranch further south of Mansfield, but it had to be done. When I was a kid it used to take 6+ hrs. to get through Pa., equaling over 25% of our trip to FL, now, only 4. Upstate NY roads will always be an afterthought, since - NYC gets all $$. Look how long it took to fix that stretch of "ribbed" highway between Campbell and Bath! And that only occurred after Pataki became Gov. Someone finally realized Upstate existed.
