As our unfortunate citizens freeze to death this winter they can take solace in knowing that GM got theirs ...AIG got theirs ...billions and billions in foreign aid is right on track ...millions and millions will be spent to ensure that jihad terrorists get a fair trial in American courts ...and so on ...
It's the American way!

Yeah, you're right.
We can let the crooked/inept executives continue to enjoy the life they are 'entitled' to, while the people in need who just want a little heat, continued to get burned.
Sucks.

So the bottom line is we will continue to throw more taxpayer money to many people who simply are too lazy to work for a living.

Would have to disagree with you on this one.....I know a couple both work long hours. They have 2 kids, unfortuantley they don't make much to keep heat in the house. Sort of like what do we do this month heat the house or go hungry....But guess what they make a few dollars over the limit so what happens they go without heat!!!! Not fair at all......I know what you are saying and some do it, but all don't...

People are really hurting. There are a few young couples with children whom I know, the primary breadwinners laid off, unemployment ran out, they closed down one house and moved in together for the winter, the kids in sleeping bags on the floor, adults sleeping in shifts. They can't afford to heat two houses.
Truly reminiscent of immigrant families in the city ghettos in the 20's and 30's, but this being in rural Snyder County PA in 2010.
We lost 4 major manufacturing plants here in the last four years, and the largest plant in the county is on lifeline, laid off about 1000 workers.

But I am guessing that family has cable, internet, cell phones, and other non essential luxury items. Perhaps one or both have a smoking habit.
