Two excellent proposals. Would be hard to part with the current pool, but Cozza's which creates 2 new pools and a community center is quite attractive. No taxpayer money either. Hope Dormont officials and residents consider them both carefully - especially the long-term tax implications. Dormont has the 2nd highest tax rate in the county. Saving the pool while not retaining and attracting new residents would be foolish. Long-term: the pool closes anyway due to lack of economic development if things stay the same.

Cozza'a development offers the residents of Dormont a fancy strip mall with horrible traffic patterns, no gaurantee any businesses will open, or remain open, and the loss of the natural beauty and landscape of our hillside. Open space and recreation are important attributes that a neighborhood needs to attract and maintain families, not a Walgreens. Long term, the pool can be repaired. Money has already been raised to support this overhaul. Dormont has nothing to gain by giving our precious assests away and everthing to lose.
