I just read the Anderson News and I am so mad I want to scream!!!!

We are going to $200,000 for school NURSES are you serious? I work at ECC do you know how many people were pink slipped last year? over 24 classified people who give thier heart and soul for th ese kids.We make a whooping $11,0000 a year. Last year we were informed that because of budget cuts there was only going to be 1 aide to each pre-school class room. I hope the public knows that this is an accident waiting to happen.
Now I find out how much Shelia is paying to have nurses. Shame on you Derek Shouse saying how much we need nurses our nurse is NEVER here we take care of the students take thier temps call the parents. Why didn't you stick up for us? We can make it without nurses we have done it before what he can't do with out is assistants who tend to these children the whole time they are here. Shame on you to Lee Hahn and Mr. Todd you were alright with all the pink slips last year. These nursed do not need $78,000 a year. I will remember all of you when it comes time for election....Parents of ECC children make a stand these are your children do what is best for them

First time to the NURSE'S station, I was called to come and get my child and was told it was an ear infection. Took child to the doctor, nothing wrong with child. Three more incidents like this with the same school NURSE, took my child to the doctor each time, nothing wrong each time. Each occasion was time I had to take away from work. So, if your child needs attention immediately, most of the school employees have had CPR training, and first aid training. I would not worry that much about it if I were you.

Well, everybody else that takes care of your children only make about $11,000 a year and take care of your children all day long! It's NOT TRUE that they wouldn't do ANYTHING for your child for liability reasons - they've been trained to treat children with seizures, epilepsy, and cardiac arrest, to name a few. The school spent an awful lot of money training them to do nothing in an emergency situation! Why pay nurses $9,000 more a year? Derek Shouse would not pay the aides anymore to do the same job, and actually cut one aide from each room. How is that safe for the children, you're so worried about them?

Do you realize you are advocating that people should do what's best for their kids by standing up to this? Hiring trained medical staff, to care for our children? Really? You just said above this is your lively hood, it has nothing to do with the best interest of children. My daughter will be going there soon and I sure the hell would rather trained medical staff, than you, who self admittedly only takes temperatures and calls parents. What if my daughter has a seizure, or stops breathing, are we really supposed to want YOU to call 911 and then standby and do nothing... For liability reasons of course, you aren't trained! To be honest, had I known this place didn't have licensed nurses on staff, it would be a cold day in hell before I let her go there.
Wel get back on her and let us know what you think about ECC after a couple months. These teachers and their aides are wonderful to kids, you know there are kids there that are not even potty trained so let's give that job (changing diapers) to the nurse, most of the kids that attend ECC is just free babysitting and they have to have extra secretaries to answer stupid phone calls from non caring parents. All school personnel have gone through medical training and they have to be re-certified every year right down to the bus drivers, checked into it before I posted. Now I wish you well with your child but ECC nor any of the other schools are your babysitters nor are your bus drivers and they are tired of being made to feel that way. If the taxpayers want us to be trained and ready then cough up more pay when we accomplish their demands which actually is federal mandated intrusion once again! It pays to be nice to the people who spend all day with your child dummie.

I have a child at ECC and there are days they don't change diapers and the children are sent on the bus with poopy diapers. I have a lot of complaints about ECC. I also think the money should go to the new playground not the nurses. There is already enough money allocated to the school nurses. At ECC the office staff is usually the ones that take care of sick children not the nurses because they are not available(not sure where they are) I hope things change around ECC before my other child gets old enough to go. I moved here because the schools were supposed to be great but they are far from it:(

This has to be a joke? Don't worry that much about it? The welfare of my child? You people are nuts! I will gladly take away time from my work to pick up my daughter, even if the nurse is wrong. And no, again, for liability reasons, the school employees won't do anything but wait for an ambulance. Nice try but I think I will worry about my child.
You are clueless school nurses whould not do anything if your child had a seizure or hit her head they call 911 you are a stupid a&& who does not know what you are talking about JOHN

It seems to me all you guys care about is money and not the welfare of children. If you want more money, become more qualified, it's that simple. Nurses are trained, licensed, medical personnel, aides are not. And you wonder why they would make 9k extra a year? Lifeguards at pools also go through the Red Cross first aid and CPR certification and I assure you they make minimum wage.
John boy you are a friggen kidding me are you the town idiot most assistants have more education than nurses who by the way only have an Asociates Degree many of our aides have BA or an Asociates in early childhood education. We have PD hours every year to better treat our students so you don't know jack

If you child comes home with dirty diapers it is because ECC in understaffed they cut the aides down to one. Call CO and tell them you demand more staff and cut nurses.

All the nurses that work for anderson county schools have Asociates with the exception of the high school nurse. Most nurses that get BA's become teachers.....
And are you the same concerned father who said it is ok for police to cheat on thier wivies because they need lovin from hos, I really like what an ethical upstanding person you are. People like you make me sick you are hypercritical jerk... you probally are some psycopath who doesn't even have a daughter you are a complete loser talking about Aides that work very hard love the children and ARE educated and get talked down to dirty scum bags like YOU. I am not an ECC aide but I have had 2 children go through the schools here and let me say that my kids aides played an important role in thier education. My kids still love thier ECC aides and hug them everytime they see them. These people that you are calling lazy, uneducated, are the finest christian women you would ever meet. Love you MS.Amy , MS.Pat, Ms.Mylinda, Ms.Gennie,
Ms.Lydia You all rock!!!!! Ms.Amy is a cancer survivor who gives all the glory to god she is the nicest person you could meet she would give you her last dime. Ms.Pat lights up a room when my child walked into Kindergarten with tears rolling down his eyes it was Ms.Pat that hugged him and loved him and made him love school. Ms.Gennie and Ms.Lydia have loved many children and thier own children have made thier mark in the world. These are the women who you are talking about John. You are such an ignorant man (if I can call you a man)grow up and educate yourself.

Okay last post went bye bye, gonna try again. Ok, one....school nurses here make around 35,000. Sounds like a lot, but it really isn't. There aren't any RNs in this state making 70 grand.

Of course the nurse is going to call 911 in an emergency! That doesn't mean that they've "done nothing ".

The person whose child came home with a poopy diaper... possibly an oversight. At ECC they tell you straight out that you should have your child potty trained, sooner rather than later.

Last thing. Anderson county only has five nurses covering seven schools. That is not a lot. The health depth is only asking for enough money to keep those five nurses on without having to cut salaries even more.

Right, and if you look back on my post to Courtney, you would see I was being facetious. Now that's a big complicated word for you so hopefully you have a dictionary around. I also gave the druggy in the "need a new dealer" thread a phone number for a new hookup.. Little does he know it rings to the Anderson County Sheriffs office... Again, facetious.
Please, stop spelling 'their' as 'thier'. The women that I am talking about are the ones on here whining about having to do the job they signed up for. If you didn't notice it yet, they are the ones who started this nonsense. Please, I don't need an education, but you however do!
John I have been reading your posts all week, and I must say they have been very intresting if not comical. I have a few questions for you. You say you have a daughter that will soon be attending ECC and you will not step a foot in the door unless their is a Nurse. Does you daughter attend daycare? If so there are NO nurses there? Lets say your child stays home which would proves you are not working with nothing better to do accept insult school employees. Lets just say you have a great job and your wife stays home with your daughter. Is she a nurse what would she do if your child stopped breathing, had a seziur, broke a bone? Would she call a school nurse for help? or would she call 911. What if you were at chuch ( which I doubt) and your child was in the nursery there are no nurses there what would you do? Your post make no sense are quite pathitic. But keep it up I can use a good laugh. As you can also see I posted this on the weekend because I am too busy unlike yourself to post on a weekday.

Then why don't you just quit? If you are so under paid and sick of babysitting then get another job. I don't care about your problems or issues, you signed up for the job, so either do it or quit, that simple. Stop whining about everything, do your job and shut up, or quit!
So, you think child caregivers are just stupid, uneducated drones, who should be like robots, satisfied with nine dollars an hour or less, but at the same time give 110% to 25 or 35 kids, come home exhausted and serve beans to their own kids for dinner(because they are doing the best they can to pay their bills, and at the end of the month there is not enough left for groceries)? But why should you care about them? You made that clear...so only the well-educated and fortunate people who earn a nice living deserve what they have, and the millions of us who cannot afford healthcare, gas for our cars, or decent food even, should either quit, go back to school (that presents another whole set of problems) or just shut up? Do you know that while the cost of living has increased unbelievably in the last 40 years or so, minimum wage HAS BARELY moved? I don't understand your thinking. A hard-working aide, janitor or bus driver should not EVER speak out about the disparity in their wages (compare $11,000 yearly to someone at CO making, say,$ 125,000), or they can't do a good job? This is not only a public school employee issue, it is an issue for middle-to-low income workers everywhere. It is very OK for people to speak out. We are supposedly a free country and this kind of non-violent civil protest is crucial to who we are. These folks deserve a living wage if they are doing their job. We are not in China. It's OK for them to ask questions. I wouldn't want a drone caring for my child, either. Would you?

I think you're missing my point. A huge portion of the working people are making less than a LIVING wage...and those people do jobs that are absolutely necessary, like school aides. Of course they know what they signed up for; it doesn't mean their salary becomes something they can never even discuss! Not everybody can go to college and not everybody can work in a professional position - the country wouldn't function without the middle-class. What I'm saying is they aren't paid enough, and there is nothing wrong with people standing up and saying something about it. The middle class is becoming the working poor. Do you think that's OK?
