No the city police is not under investigation, there is always a lot of troopers in the county. There is at lest 1 or 2 working in the county every day not to mention the 10 to 15 that live here. The city police make several arrest a day, and if they do give there arrest to a trooper its only because the state police have quotas they have to write so may tickets a month and the city dose not so there just helping the troopers meet there quotas.

Looks like your "Good Sources" are WRONG. Come on now, are you really that stupid ? Do you honestly think that if a police officer could not make an arrest, they would even be working ? Use your common sense, instead of your "good sources".

Those of you that get on here and bash public servants and scream "I'm a taxpayer!"...what are your occupations? IF you even have a job, it is probably sitting on your fat behind getting a check from the government. By the way, public servants are tax payers too!

taxpayer! Why do you assume people on here are receiving checks from the government? Why would they even be interested if they are not paying taxes? Sounds like you have a problem with people who get a check from the government. Does this make them have a "fat" behind? Lol! Yes, I do understand public servants are tax payers too, but don't you think these certain tax payers benefit more than the common tax payer when they abuse the system? Think about it!! I have to put gas in my personal vehicle every week, sometimes twice. I wouldn't have to if I had a company vehicle to use therefore, saving my gas and using theirs at their expense!!!!

Law enforcement officers put their life on the line every second of every day. Same with EMS and fire fighters. First responders are not making a ton of money in this town. No. I'm not a first responder. But I'm damn glad they are here when I need them.

I meant they work for state government not on the draw. Yes, I do have a problem with most of those on the draw because I work my butt off and don't get all the luxuries they get! That's a different topic altogether!
This discussion isn't about you and your gas bill either. I bet you make more money than a cop too.
The main point I was trying to make is that we are ALL tax payers and just because you pay taxes doesn't mean you are right when you complain about what appears unfair in your eyes!
I learned at a young age that life isn't fair and complaining never fixes anything!

You guys are funny. Cops pay taxes too. Just figure his taxes are paying for his cruiser and worry about more important things. Only people I have ever known that have a problem with cops are the people who break the law! The ones that are particularly rude are the ones that have gotten a free ride in the cruiser LOL! Seriously, some people have jobs that allow then to eat lunch anywhere they please. Whole courthouse shuts down at noon, doesn't it? Senators ride in government vehicles to where ever, nobody complains about that....no, let's complain about the people getting drugs out of our town and willing to save your ass when you are in trouble, even if it means putting their own life in danger. Let's complain that they ate lunch at home and turned on lights. Turned on a siren so......maybe kids would be aware to get out if the street? But no -- that's offensive. Some people really need to get past their hatred of cops. They are people too, just like any of us. Everyone is so quick to complain but I don't see you lining up to do their job!!

These issues get old. First I am an officer from another town who is allowed to bring my cruiser home. If I lived in my town there'd be no cost, but living outside of my jurisdiction I agree to pay a fee. The some of the general public will never agree with some of the "so-called" perks we receive like take home fleet. However, these are the same folks who would never step out of their box and apply to work as an officer. Sure you don't get your gas paid for at your place or work, but have you ever had to stand in a downpour of rain and direct traffic during a car accident? Have you ever had to fight a suspect of domestic violence and arrest him in front of his own kids? Have you ever been face to face with a suicidal person who is begging you to kill them as they hold a gun or knife in their hands, not knowing if they will turn violent with you? How many times can you say your job has placed your life in danger of injury or death? I'll bet most or all of these scenarios you've never been in through your job. I'll even bet your job doesn't leave the question with your family if you'll make it home from your shift. So, if you want the unfair "free" gas that we get go to your local PD and apply for this job and wear a badge. If not, thank that officer who may have saved a life or prevented more wrecks and injuries instead of trying to "raise a stink.". Better yet say a prayer for them that the next time we turn on our sirens won't be our last.

Nobody forced them to choose that profession! If its all that bad, find a better job. Let someone do it that doesn't feel he deserves more than what he is getting. Taking up for this unfair behavior is not helping anything, especially our taxes!! I am not saying this about all of our police force, only the ones that feel they deserve more than what they are receiving. We have to go by our company rules, why shouldn't they? And nope, I have never broke the law and have a grudge toward cops!

Tom,
Nobody forced you to choose the profession you chose. Thus, you not having a take home car with a company paying the gas would seem to be a product of your choices in career and company. If a police officer's agency allows them the use of a take home car and they take advantage of it, they are following the rules. It seems to me you are just mad that they might have something you don't. I would wager that you have much that they don't. Not once have you shown any appreciation for the men and women in blue/grey. Instead you seem to be using them as a whipping post for being upset about your taxes. I am with you on taxes as I seem to pay a bunch and then watch the government waste them. However, I am not in favor of cutting them in the public safety department.

Whoops! Is this thread about appreciation for men and women in blue/grey? Is this thread about choosing professions in regards to benefits? Is this thread about someone having more than police officers? Is this thread about under paid police officers? I thought it was about the police force (some) using police cars for their own personal use! At our expense, yes taxpayers!!! Should we allow it to continue because they are who they are and not say anything? Hell no! So you can get on here and give every reason you want to cover their butts but it won't fly with me. Right is right and wrong is wrong, regardless of who you are. Period! I'm done with this forum.

So if the City of Lawrenceburg allows their officers to use their cars to eat lunch they are following the rules as set by the chief. By the way, the mayor and commission allow him those powers. With that said they are in the right. Sorry you don't agree but they are following the guidelines set.
