I am in no way speaking bad about Tyrone Baptist Church. I do always wonder why they and other churches want to go help homeless and poor people in other states. Why not focus on helping people in KY? I know several people who attend there, and they are always helping out someone in another state. Again, I mean no disrespect to this church. I'm just curious and hope someone answers my question....

Like I clearly stated, I was not saying anything negative....just wondered why people are helped out of state instead of right here at home...and the devil didn't make me wonder that...my brain and common sense did....

I have a friend that attends Tyrone. they are a giving church. They have a ministy in Lawrenceburg for those that need help. Its called the Clothing Closet and they give out free clothes. They also travel to Louisville every Friday to take supplies to homeless people. the trips to Nashville and other bigger cities happen only once or twice a year. they are always looking for volunteers, so if you feel led join them. There's no need to argue, they were just asking.

My mother used to go there. And my friend, Nicole, who is also a Christian author took Sign Praise classes there- a wonderful ministry. Nicole and I were sat up near the stage at The Burgoo Festival and watched them. I was also invited to go on Friday nights, but I had to watch my father at that time. To me, a very wonderful, giving church. I think they helped mother out with some stuff for the foster kids, as did the local Seventh-day Adventist Church where I go and First Baptist Church, where I attended Vacation Bible School. I think we have very good churches in the area.

Church is just a building without the presence of GOD... At Tyrone Baptist Church you feel that presence, Poor Mans Ritches plays music there and they are wonderful, they help you cleanse your mind so you can open your mind heart and soul to the Lord.
Then when Mark gets up to preach, he teaches you the bible and relates it to what we go thru today The people that go there are so wonderful, My family have been going for 6 weeks and I feel at home there.
It's an Amazing Spirit filled church. I am Thankful for my nephew for inviting us to go and be apart of this amazing group of people, this amazing spirit filled church. If you need the Lord and you having been searching for HIM, like I have been and so many others have. I seriously recommend you to go to Tyrone.. You will feel the Lords Arms wrapping around you as I did and you will want to continue to go... God Bless you

Your question is one of perception, not reality for many, many churches. The help for local folks is often done more by individuals or by smaller groups within the church. Sometimes the help is in more subtle ways to not have a negative impact on their dignity in getting help. This help does not get a lot of promotion and a big splash of awareness. Help in more remote areas requires more coordination and promotion, thus you hear more about it and sometimes it gets the splash of news awareness. There is probably as much or more help provided locally but you just don't hear about it as much which creates a perception that it does not exist.

I have another question about TBC. Why does their Facebook page have a picture of someone holding a can of Budweiser in a can cozy? You can tell by the colored stripes on the can. Is that their form of communion?

This is what I know about Tyrone. There are some great people who attend there. However, I once heard someone who was representing their church let loose a string of profanities. A minister of theirs responded that he was used to it. Used to sin? That tells me all I need to know about what type of church they have going there. It isn't much of a church, more like a club.

The youth basketball teams likes to refer to themselves as "bandits." They act more like river rats.

I love how some people get in here to ask a simple question the someone like you gets on here and talks like they're holier than thou and that they've never sinned. You know what? People at the church do cuss. And you don't let a word slip every now and then? Or even cuss regularly? You sin just as much as they do. Tyrone is a great church. I leave the service in tears every time I attend. The message always speaks out to you in some way. Church and religion isn't about who sins more. And if your preacher isn't used to sin then I feel sorry for your church because I'm here to tell you, church is a place where you're suppose to let everything out. There are no secrets in church and you shouldn't walk around acting like your sh!t don't stink and that you're better than someone because you attend a different church. At least every person in that church is real and doesn't try to hide the fact that they sin. I promise you that if you get to know the people that attend this church you'll see that they are the most down to earth people you'll ever meet.

If you have been a part of a church for multiple years and are still living freely in your sin then the church is failing. If the minister is accepting of your sin and not pushing you to grow in Christ then the church is failing.

No person is perfect but someone who is representing a body of Christians should not be acting like a fool. It simply tells the world that the church is failing.

If you are in the walls of your church and want to share with your brothers and sisters in Christ then the church is the perfect place to let everything out. If you are in public wear your Tyrone t-shirt with a mouth full of tobacco then "letting everything out" including profane speech shows everyone that the church is failing.

Thank you!! You're right! Everyone sins and my biggest pet peeve is when people try to act like they don't. You don't have to be in church to let everything out. God is there for you anytime. Not just in church. And the preacher at Tyrone DOES except the fact that people sin. He also tries in anyway to help everyone from sinning but he himself sins too along with every other preacher and person in this world.

Tyrone baptist church Is awsome. There basketball boys are a great bunch of kids. I have witnessed several of them come to Christ through the basketball program. I am very thankful for this church and all the people that go there.
