I had a relative going to Israel and I told her to be very careful and she told me she had just as big a risk living in Lawrence everday. In amazement I sit and watch more and more people get laid off and not be able to make ends meet and the politicians respond by let's take some more of their money. I think the time has come in America for Americans to stand up together in large numbers with guns in hand and start making some policy changes as we have entirely too much government period. I have more freedom visiting Jamaica than I do visiting Lawrence. When the government is no longer a government of the people by the people for the people the people have then righ to tear it down and start over. It is time people.

What are you people complaining about...if you are not doing anything wrong than you have nothing to worry about. Seems all of you posters want to do is complain. The simple fact here is if you are not breaking the laws then you will not have these increased fees to pay. I say go for it. If it brings more money into the city, GREAT!!! And if you cannot afford to pay the fines, don't break them. I have been driving 20 years and have never been pulled over once. I am not worried about the fines. And yet if I get pulled over, I will pay them. WHY?? Because I broke the law. It is time to get over yourselves people. Good job Paul!

This is just like adding taxes to tobacco and saying that it is because we want people to use less. They are talking out of both sides of their mouths again. It is insanity to say that the goal is to both make the streets safer and also to raise more money; if people are more safe, then they raise less money! The best plan is to stop finding ways to bilk the public for more money, and find a way to spend less.

Can you find a copy anywhere in this state that will actually respond to an emergency? All I see anymore is traffic violations and non-violent crimes getting caught. Where are the cops when someone is murdered, robbed at gunpoint or raped? Every city is out to collect more fines and the citizens are left to fend for themselves.

I don't live around Lawrence but I feel as some of these other peopole. The way things is don't put another fee for the people to pay. Yes I have had to pay for traffic tickets and have felt that the police have to make a quote every month so they just sit and try to get someone to meet their qoute for the month. I live in another county and have to drive to Idny to work and last July I got a ticket on the west side of Indy and got stop the officer said I could tell how fast you was traveling by the way my car was bouncing that is so crazy. I had a car accident in November and my car wasn't fix right and I needed to get fix. But to give me a ticket because my car was bouncing in crazy. He hadn't even clocked me. I went a head and paid it. It's way for the town's to get money each month. The way things is we could go into a depresseion and God help us what would happen. I work for 21 years in Anderson,IN and lost my job and have had to go out of town to work and it gets expencsive for gas but got to work so you pay the cost. But to increase traffic tickets would be just unfair to an one.I know a lot of peoople speed and just doesn't get caught. It is just plan crazy.

You do make a valid point, but it is the reasoning behind the ticket hike!! Government needs more money, so let's screw the public and have them pay for it! I'm sure when the State adds .50 increase to the gas tax, you will be on here the same as everyone else bit*hing about it! They need to consolidate local Governments, and spend less not just raise fees everytime they need more money!!!

You know what I find really ironic with this entire situation is that Paul didn't have a problem with taking a $18,000.00 a year pay raise once he got into office. But now he wants to raise the rates on traffic tickets to bring money into the city. Duh, give back the raise. That is probably more than what you are going to get from the traffic tickets anyway. I didn't vote for this crook the first time and I won't vote for him next time either, if there is a next time.
