"A very nice guy, very quiet," she said. "He never bothered nobody."

Why is this the standard way to describe every dirtball known to man???

This is why no other country has trailers. Seriously, this guy had a mental condition and should not have married and fathered children. How in the world did he become husband material? Someone didn't see all the signs and billboards this guy displayed.

Never saw the children playing outside. Never saw the wife. (No, officer, not in several days, for three years.) We're kinda slow on the uptake round here. Waiting for my own husband to get back home with the gallon of milk I sent him for 18 months ago.Must be a long line at the store. Or sumpin.

Im no expert here, but i wonder....why couldn't they just bust out the windows? it was in a trailer, and no bars on the windows. Im sure it was horrible, but if im being held in captivity...id certainly rish the 3 drop from the window to the ground. but this is sick!

Where was the rest of the park, that they didn't know there were 4 children living in that trash heap. And how come no one smelled the stench until they were on it. ROCman I'm with you only in America can you live for years next to another human and know nothing about them. SICK, just sick. Go talk to your neighbors and be a neighbor! They are supposed to be your first line of defense in an emergency!

Come on people, this isn't make believe. You certanily prove the talk about America being desensitized to reality. They were trapped and you are reading this because they did get help. Shame on you all, this is horrible and they were abused. Go back to work and be thankful you have never gotten invovled with a psycho. Yes, they are real and don't just exist for fodder for you quips. He was charged with rape and child abuse - that's not funny, that's tragic.

Are you slow? You think the states is the only country with trailer parks?

If you can't hold your own wife and children captive in a trash-filled mobile home for three years, who can you hold captive in a trash-filled mobile home for three years?

Was it really necessary for CNN to use the term "kin" for this story as if it isn't patently obvious from the story that he's a redneck freak?

I dont think anyone thinks this is make believe, I think everyone is dumbfounded thatthis wasnt discovered sooner thats all . I agree with many here.

Why didnt someone smell it sooner.

Why didnt she break out - my ex held me and three little boys for almost a week, through intimidation like this man , I waited until he finally fell asleep ,,armed to the teeth.

Then I put the 2 yr old on my hip madethe other two ,4 and 6 hold my hand.QUIETLY unlocked the window,, shoved the two older ones out then went out myself with the baby and I ran like I was on fire to the neighbors. It took me three houses to find someone to answer the door , but I did it and it was a cop ....

and like someone said , he was a huge meth head and could stay up for DAYSSSSSSSSSS. I had to wait for him to crash.
He was angry over our soon to be final divorce, however he had ,severe behavior problems during the entire marriage that I failed to see the depth of before marriage ... I STLL blame myself for not getting out sooner .

I am sorry she was so afraid that she couldnt move .

TY friends on fire , wish I known sooner.

I know one of my neighbors has loads of cutting boards and knives and barrels of meat scraps. I don't want to know what they're there for and I'm afraid to ask.
