Beware of Milligan and Sons Garage in Martin/Lavonia Georgia - I had a horrible experience with them. My water pump failed on I-85 and a local AutoZone referred me to Milligan. I feel like Paul Milligan was very unprofessional and took advantage of the fact that I was temporarily stranded. He charged an excessive towing ($95) and diagnostic fee ($85) to tell me what I already knew - that I had a bad water pump. Paul Milligan leveraged his position of power against my vulnerable state to essentially force me to transfer my car title to him in return for a ride back to civilization since his shop is miles from anywhere. When I returned several days later and declined to transfer the title, he charged me an outrageous storage fee of $160 for 6 days of storage and held my car hostage until I paid cash. Paul Milligan claims to be a man of his word, and maybe he is, as long as he stands to make money off of you. If you value your money, stay away from Milligan and Sons Garage

The towing charge is actually what the state has said is reasonable. The rest of the story does sound very hard-nosed of him. I'm terribly sorry that you had this experience in our area. My experiences here with mechanics in the area have been very different from yours. I haven't used Milligans, but have been in dire straits several times and have been treated very well by several local businesses.

MR SEEK HAS A SHORT MEMORY. THIS CUSTOMER CALLED ME ON FATYERS DAY. ASK IF WE WOULD FIX HIS CAR THAT DAY.WE PICKED UP HIM AND HIS CAR & TOWED IT IN. CHECKED THE CAR AND FOUND THAT THE REPAIR COST MORE THAN THE VALUE OF CAR. HE WANTED ME TO BUY HIS CAR FOR PARTS.WAS TOLD I HAD NO USE FOR A 1991 SUBARU HIGH MILE LOTS OF RUST. HAD AN EMPLOYEE DRIVE HIM TO ATHENS GA. SO THAT HE COULD GET A ROOM & RENTAL CAR. ON FATHERS DAY.6 DAYS LATER HE SHOWS UP AT SHOP & TELLS ME WHAT HE OWES FOR OUR TIME & EXPENSE. LAST TIME I PAYED MY EMPLOYEES
MY NAME WAS ON THE CHECK. JUST GOES TO SAY THAT IF YOU GO OUT OF YOUR WAY TO HELP.SOME PEOPLE HAVE NO CLASS. JUST READ HIS REVIEW.

I asked for a price to install a set of fog lamds needing no wiring since the control was remote and the installation of a Bull Bar. He wanted $150 labor. Had the job done in Royston for $50. Beware

I am the owner of milligan and sons garage, the person that indicated that i gave him a quote on installing his fog lights and bull bar has to be mistaken. never recived phone call and would not give quote over phone with out seeing car and parts first. there is an old saying, "when you eat at waffle house, Do you take your eggs with you". i have no prolblem installing customers parts as long as customer takes responsabillity for said parts. it amazes me that someone i have never met or spoke with can get on the internet and say this kind of stuff.

I owe Mr. Milligan a review and I apologize for taking so long to get around to it. About 6 months ago, my wife and I were stranded on I-85 with a broken transmission. We were on our way to North Carolina to start a new job. The person who came to our rescue was Mr. Milligan. He towed our van, took us to the local hotel, looked over our van, and told us our options to get it fixed. We have an older van – 2000 Windstar – and we needed an entire new transmission. It would normally take 2 – 3 days to get a new transmission, remove, and replace our transmission. But when we explained the tight schedule we were under because of the new job; he and his crew worked very hard and finished our repairs in 1 day. It is not easy to install a new transmission in cars these days and it took them a VERY LONG day to get it done. Well, as I said, that was about 6 months ago. There have been ZERO problems with the engine or transmission. The van runs great and it would appear that I will be driving the van for many years to come. I very strongly recommend Mr. Milligan.

Mr. Milligan is after your money. He seems knowledgeable, and is ready to work on your vehicle right away, but he'll have you replacing many parts before the problem is found. He does what he says he'll do, and does it right, but he's expensive.

Do NOT go to Milligan & sons. His prices are way too high. Mr. Milligan preaches that he does everything right and with quality parts, but he's actually ripping you off. He puts on parts you don't need and doesn't even fix the problems you went in for. He lies about problems you don't have. I actually ended up fixing my car MYSELF. All he wants is your money.I trusted Mr. Milligan. My car is my baby and I thought I was doing the right thing by taking it to him. It's really a shame.

After moving to my present location, I started using Paul since he's close. Having owned and operated a successful business in FL,I understand costs involved in order to do any job efficiently and cars are no more than computers on wheels. I can't tell you how much money I have spent elsewhere by either applying a "band aid" to my car troubles or trial by fire , so to speak. When he has my vehicle, it's fixed the first time. I've been advised that some repairs on my high millage older model cars exceeded not just the value of my vehicle but also future repairs that would surely come sooner than later. Good advice. Quality equipment is expensive. In any business, that cost is passed on to the consumer. For those looking for a good mechanic, I have no complaints...if you prefer to shop at the Dollar Store, fine..you get what you pay for... although I can't afford it, I prefer the Sax 5th Ave of car care.

Paul Milligan is my uncle and as a previous employee of his..He is a very honest and caring MAN, He will help ANYONE if he is able to, there's been countless amount of times that he has come out of his own pocket to help those in need. He's the best mechanic that I've ever known and gained alot of knowledge about cars from him.You don't stay in the automotive repair business for 20+ years by ripping off and taking advantage of customers .I personally know he has literally has hundreds of repeat customers.I personally knew a couple that would drive from Atlanta 90+ miles for regular maintenance on their vehicle..I can also say we NEVER had a customer return to the shop with the same problem or any other problem after repairing their vehicle...I recommended Milligan & Sons Garage to anyone in the area that has car trouble...

Milligan and Sons are crooks. Stay away from them. They will misdiagnose your car to keep you coming back. I paid over $2,000 for my car to be fixed and it still was not right. Then, come to find out he put my brakes on backwards at that! I know 3 other people who were scammed after me. Beware and take your vehicles to a professional!

My experience with Milligan and Sons was great. They had been highly recommended by a neighbor who has had them do a number of jobs on his high mileage truck. I am very satisfied with both their work and customer care. Here is my experience:
I was following my wife to the dealer have her new car serviced under warranty when my trusty 2005 Explorer went into "Failsafe mode" and would barely move. I put it on the side of the road and hid a key.As we continued in her car, I called Miiligan, for the first time ever, explained my problem and where the key was.
They towed the car in within the hour and called me. Two hours later I got a call stating the problem; squirrels had gotten into my wiring and did some serious damage. I had no doubt that this was the case since the dealer had just shown us similar damage on my wife's new car.
Milligan quoted me a price, which I know to be reasonable, did the work and had me back on the road that afternoon.
Their price on the towing was minimal and they were a pleasure to work with.
I had read the reviews above before calling them, both good and otherwise but I know people are much more likely to write a negative review than a positive one no matter how well the work is done. Thus, I count every positive one as carrying a lot more weight.
I fully intend to use Milligan and Sons in the future.

Paul Milligan of Milligan & Sons Garage did work on my car. My fiancee was using the vehicle and got stuck. The work Paul did to the vehicle I found out by the Nissan dealership later was not done at all. Someone other than Paul tell me why the dealership has to lie about that. Nissan took pictures believe me if I could post it I would. The part was the original and rusted out. Tell me Paul .. how does a part 2 weeks old look and act like the original..old and not working. Paul.. why won't you ever call me back. I wasn't irate or irrational I just wanted a receipt for the tow and the work you said you did.. which he refuses to provide. Says he now needs to charge the tax .. why maybe because he never did it legitimately. I called him calmly to discuss all this and he hung up on me says he will call me back but calls my fiancee within seconds. I told my fiancee not to talk to Paul again because Paul gets very irate yelling at him.. the dealership and anyone else he gets called out on about this situation. Paul called the Nissan dealership and cussed this man out on the phone the guy told me when i went to pay again for the work that Paul was supposed to do.I actually gave Paul an opportunity to discuss this between ourselves to resolve but now that Paul won't call back, discuss this like a true business owner I am going to see if I can get charges brought against him..maybe for theft by deception.. i will find out by the police after i speak with them. He says he bought the parts from the dealer. How come they have no record of it and you won't provide us a receipt. Guess we will find out. I will definitely keep everyone posted. I am so sure Paul is going to spew a lie or two he has already and I am ready with the evidence. That says a thousand words.. at least that what the law says. Paul all I have to say to you is tell it to the Judge.

He is a man without integrity or honor. Those characteristics always come back and bite you. Watch out Mr Milligan. One day you will get your just reward
