Actually sales tax is a lot higher than you think.
This isn't Greenville, and were not in Wonderland.

Keep telling yourself that the City doesn't make enough money off Alcohol sales to support City Fuel consumption for the year. The do that in a week. And Oh, by the way, the City Workers payroll is budgeted out a year in anvance at a minimum. Also a municipality is not allowed to make a profit. After all their not a Commercial Company in the Business to make money. They have to spend the money if they have it on making the City a better place and supporting our local Law Enforcement and Fire Department. In other words, They should be Broke at the end of the Year before the Commissioner releases funds.

Now with that little tid-bit of info, Where do you think think the money is going?

If they were collecting even $40.00 extra which is ludicris, over what they were making before they went WET, why aren't the Streets repaired and a New Damn Traffic Light at 548 & I30?
The City is relying on public contractors to pay for Concrete and Bonds to sustained the improved roads, and stick the rest in their pockets.

How about that!!! Oh and now that they have money that wasn't there previous to Alcohol Tax, well thats just Extra. Now that their extra,, Where's it going?? The under busgdte that went on the High School shouldn't have been a factor at all since it was planned before the election. If there not going to spend it to fix the Streets with all the money that their making in DWI's and TAXES, I say VOTE NO, on Alcohol in Royse City....
Because the Tax Money and Traffic Fines associated with Alcohol are in no way helping the police Dept with funding, since the write the Tickets, and the Taxes that are collected haven't made any improvments, So lets kill the Fow of Alcohol in Royse City by Voting to BE DRY, and make a Stand against linings of the pockets of Greedy People. If their not working for it. Take it away from them. I might even start the first campaign to GO DRY, Walmarts not that far away, and if you can't afford to go there for Beer and Wine, that means your not responcible enough to Drink anyway,

So if your a dumb &^#$^&* Alcoholic to bad.Your gonna have to drive that extra 20 miles to get you Drink on....

As far as I know, the only thing illeagal about Drinking in Royse City is where the City spends all that money that was collected from Taxes and DUI Tickets.

If we respocible Citizens are allowed to have the luxury of buy Alcohol here, We should be more cautious as to where the money is going.

Just look at the Mandatory fees for DWI's. Lives are being wrecked and the City still doesn't have a program that counters Alcohol addiction. That like MOB rules, "let em gamble, when they Can Pay Break their Legs and make them hurt more'.

I guess it's safe to say that not only is the City Getting the Cake but their eating it Too.

Here's a good question that needs to be answered.
Where is the all the Money Actually Going?

When I moved here 20 years ago, I noticed that they people in Royse City were good honest working people that didn't question the way the City was run. Here it is 2009 Nov, and the population has exploded. With that said it is everyones job to make commitment and sacrifices and be more responcible. Without the basic right to question where the city is going in the future and not handle business as usual. Royse City has long passed the days of doing business as usual. It just saddens me that to this day, I still donot see any improvement or even signs of it, anywhere in the City, You see the same old broken streets, an inactive Chamber of Commerce, No new traffic controls that have expanded with population growth, No new City Sponsored programs to help the Elderly or indigent, Backwards city gains and deficites, No control over City Government in the City Charter to help peoples voices be heard based on the City Councils lack of interest to.

The only two things that I've seen that's inpacted the City over the last couple years, was Bankruptcy, and a New High School.
The City is being judged and they are blinded by Business as Usual.

That is the fault of everyone in office and the people who live here including myself.
I'm just sick of people who whine and cry about how bad things are and don't have the good common sence to do something about it. It called getting envolved in the community, and not just going to work and come home, hoping everything will take care of itself.
Everyone is respocible, Everyone matters, Every Idea counts, and there is nothing common about the people or the City itself.
The growing pains are wide spread and it's going to take some good leadership to ease the pain and create oppertunities that matter.
From what I see, with City Government. This is a fantasy or dream that may come one day. Our day has not come and won't for sometime.

Their are plenty of Cities out there with good plans and productive people in their Municipalities who I'm sure would mind spreading a wealth of information that would guarantee success for us as Citizens.
I say lets make it happen.

My guess is the insurance money was reallocated somewhere else so the City Manager could hire more assistants and our city council probably approved it by an overwhelming majority.

Very good question maybe. Where would one need to go to get the answer? Maybe the newspaper could do a follow-up story.

Why does everyone assume I'm with the city just because I tell the truth and don't make up a bunch of bull. At a council meeting the gazebo bids were opened and it was said that the insurance would pay up to $39,000 for it to be replaced. The bids were a total of around $35,000 for construction and electrical. All you got to do to know stuff like that is listen to what's said. It don't take a rocket scientist from L-3 to do that.

Oh crap, I could build a small house for that much.

In fact I'll build the gazebo. I'll only charge um 20,000!!! It was falling apart from neglect.

Lord I hate city corruption and nonsense.

39,000 that's absurde.

I hate City Corruption also. Maybe when Someone in the City is not so Gun Shy from from the Dallas Counsel member who was selling City Contracts and getting Kick backs was Hammered by the FBI. After all the smoke settles from that, May one of are Guys Downtown will hire one of his realitives at an inflated price so they can both get paid to put the Gazebo back up.

Daily Horoscope for December 17

Aquarius

Yesterday you had a good control over the workings of your mind, but sadly that isn't the case today. Instead, your thoughts are wandering in every direction except the one you need to concentrate on. The result will be a sense of being disconnected from what's going on around you and possibly even a dreamlike quality to the day. Don't make any decisions while you're like this.
