Thank you for all of you who said so many nice things. I have no idea who you are but its good to see that there are good people our there still! For those of you who said negative stuff about me its absolutely your right to do just that! As a matter if fact everyday I hear on the news or read in the paper about someones child never getting to come home because he/she died fighting for your right to say what you feel. All I ask is that you allow my actions to speak louder than the negative words typed here by unknown people. As far as why I came to GWPD its because the men and women who have worked here prior to me have made this town something special in terms of being a place where car break-ins still make the weekly newspaper! My family and I have lived here for three years and I've missed a lot of my children lives working in FS! As they say they don't stay little very long and it appears to very true! I was not fired and was only in any trouble twice in my 12 plus years in FS. Once was for a vehicle pursuit where a few of my men got caught up in the moment chasimg a suspectedguy homicide suspect and did not give me the total truth about their speeds and traffic situations. I refused to say that they were lying to me on purpose so the city could fire them so I got two days off while one of them got 30 days and the other got I believe two weeks off. The other ocassion was because I came to Greenwood to watch my step son play football during my lunch one day on my time, which is common practice. A guy posted a photo of me in uniform on Facebook and I told the administration about it myself. There was no policy against what happened but I still got two days off. Neither of these events would lead me to think I was a bad guy just a man who sees things as they are and is willing to do the right thing even when its not popular for the those I work for. I know I didn't have to tell anyone any of this but I am an honest guy and I have nothing to hide or anything to run from. I was a Sergeant in FS and had 28 people working for me. I would say most of the guys who worked for me in FSwhere would tell you they would follow me to battle and many were angry at me for leaving to come to GWPD. I love Greenwood and the people who are here and I believe in the police departments administration which is why im here! To the writer who's worried about me being bored! I look forward to it! I was shot at in Iraq several times as well as several times in FS and yes unfortunately I had to take a mans life, which was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do! I have to live with that every day for the rest of life. But because of my training the lady that man tried to kill didn't walk into that house along with those two junior officers and get mowed down by someone who was also well trained and lying wait for them in an ambush situation. Again thank you to those who support me and to those who don't maybe time will change your mind.

The guy kinda scares me. I don't see how a place like Greenwood would keep him engaged in postitive activites. Swat, POV, a little bit of everything including a domestic that turned deadly in the last 2 years. This guy has some baggage. I trust Police Chief Dawson judgement. This officer is highly trained, no doubt about that. My concern is that he might be over trained. I would think Little Rock would be preferrable to him and they are hiring. If you google his name, you can see for yourself that FSPD gave him every "new" toy or responsibity and he still managed to get fired.
See, this is that crap that Topix is famous for. Who said he got fired? Y'all just say what ever comes into your heads and you don't care what the backlash is for those that the rumors are started.

I wish Officer Davis the best. He has a stellar career of service from being an MP to protective service. I think he will be a hugh asset for training all the new officers in police tactics. That being said, I still have concerns that he either forgot the rules applied to him or he thought he was above them. Laws, rules whatever apply equally to those in uniform or not. And no I'm not wigged out about the sexual accusations either. It's combined with his involvement with a shooting incident. I hope him the best and hope he wasn't acting out of character because of any unresolved issues with the shooting. He deserves the best because he has given his best. Like I said before, I trust Chief Dawsons judgement on this.
Okay, I'll bite. Let's say, he was acting out because of his envolvement in a shooting incident...I don't know anything about this particular incident. Acting out, acting inappropriately, level of maturity diminishing.....the dude is under stress. He needs to talk to someone he can trust. Maybe they missed something in the debriefing.

Officer Davis thank you for your candid reply. Scrunity isn't always criticism. I've lived in some really mean cities; D.C., New Orleans, Kansas City and I've supported those officers through thick and thin because they are good departments with some bad baggage in the news. Patience for a police officer will keep you alive. I'm glad you was suspended for lying to your superiors protecting younger officers that lied to you about following procedure. As an old fart, I know they felt like they didn't have a choice and I doubt it was personal. As far as the deadly domestic, I'm not sure why anyone entered the premise knowing there was an out of control, armed man inside. Why the area wasn't secured, backup and a negioater called to diffuse the situation, I don't know and will not second guess. In Portsmouth Va we lost an officer because he chased an armed domestic underneath the house, peaked under a basement opening and had a double gun shotgun blast to the face. I wish you the best in your career and I'm sorry I mistook you as the officer from the news report concerning the male/female officers leaving the FSPD.Like I said, I'm a retired old plug that has seen a lot of officers lose their life over procedures or lack there of.

let me rephrase one of my comments about the suspension, I was happy to hear FSPD took approriate action. Gawd, they get trashed so bad, it was good to hear real info from a former officer.I wasn't happy that you got suspended.

Yes the action FSPD took was appropriate in the vehicle pursuit as the officers involved did get careless and as their first line supervisor im responsible for their actions good or bad so their failure was a failure on my part as well. The agency however wanted me to say I felt the officers were lying to me on purpose in order for me to allow the pursuit to continue and I personally did not feel their actions were an out right lie so I was rewarded with my own suspension. Do I believe I would have been suspended if I agreed they lied on purpose? No I don't, but two good families would have lost support because I would have sold out my integrity to please my superiors and I was more willing to take the hit than in the bank then in my integrity.
As far as the shooting goes we didn't know if he was in there or not by the time we got there and many times when a domestic (or any crime for that matter) occurs the suspect is gone when police arrive. The man would not answer the door and his wife opened it for us. I told her we would check the house and then she could come in and get her stuff so she could leave him. It was pitch black in the house and he was sitting at the kitchen table pointing a .45 at me and my officers. If I had not had my flashlight in the middle of the day I would gave never noticed him where he was sitting. There's not much backing down at that point. He made a decision that day that will effect several people for ever.
Again I am thankful for the support I have seen here but I should probably stop posting at this point on this particular thread. I ask that if you see me out please come and introduce yourself to me because chances are I don't know many of you from my last dealings and if I do your probably the ones saying positive things about me Haha!(There's that sense of humor! Lol) honestly im looking forward to meeting as many of you are interested!

I agree. You have addressed and resolved my concerns and I appreciate it. I wish you the best and I think Greenwood has hired one of the best. You would make of hell of a D.E.A. agent.

Hi. My name is Sharon.(st) I am very interested in meeting you. Um, I am a little confused as to what your rank is though. If you are a 1st line supervisor, does that mean that you are a Sgt. and that you patrol with your men? Are you going to work for grnwood? If that is the case then I will probably never get to meet you. I have tried several times to contact grnwd pd to participate in their ride-along program...and they are just not ready for us. Anyway, sorry to hear of your suspension. Good luck in your future. You can always look at yourself in the mirror and feel good about yourself because you did the RIGHT thing on both of those accounts. You are in the performance of your duties...dispatch gives you as much information about the situations that you are called to...you collaborate with you fellow officers and you make a decision...some one has to make the decision....you made the best decisions you were able to based on what information you had. How can anyone ask more of you or of any officer.

So being married to the chiefs ex-wife has nothing to do with you being hired, while on suspension from FSPD for the appearance of improper behavior with a female trainee? That's what the news reported, not something created out of thin air....

The new sergeant is Brandon Davis. Who left FSPD because he was banging a trainee. Yeah, great asset to the PD.
I've heard that you all would rather bang each other than anybody else...that includes your wives. You see more of each other (cops) than you do your wives, children, mothers, fathers, or siblings. You know that you all have more in common with each other and the daily events that influence your lives, you constantly share with those arounds you (other cops).
Ya, sure it would be swell to have you all be monogamous, but your human and that makes you vunerable to your fears. What might be your greatest fear? Dying. Or having one of your cop friends die. Which just reinforces the fact that you are more mortal than I am because of your interactions with all the bad asses you confront daily. I really truly like you guys and I support you, even when you fail me. I try not to get too close to you because I cannot emotionally afford to be your friend. The loss could be too great. There will always be a seperation between you and I.
