Lower age limit on guns awaits OK
“When I came home from the military, I was still under the age of 21. I could carry a firearm to defend others' rights to have one, but I couldn't own one”
Gov. Mark Sanford has not yet decided what he'll do with a bill awaiting his signature that lowers South Carolina's minimum age to buy and sell guns from 21 to 18, press secretary Joel Sawyer said Friday. via Post and Courier

I always found it amazing that when I was in ROTC, I could drink on base at age 18 but step off base and I had to be twenty (back in the 1980's when some states had limits higher than 18).

I think I will go tell the kids selling crack on the corner across the street from my store that they are not allowed to have those gun in the pants. Why is these criminals never listen.

Odd, too, that the military will trust you with a firearm at 18, yet the moment you step off the base, you're breaking the law.

The military will trust you with a firearm at 17 with parental permission to join.
