Laurel, MD

With the recent adoption of speed cameras in Laurel MD we now have continual monitoring of our personal lives by our local government. Nobody would honestly disagree that speed cameras are money making adventures for Laurel city, but the unfortunately the result is our daily lives are constantly controlled through remote viewing and automated reporting. In places like Britain where millions of cameras are in place, some say freedom is lost. Isnít there a similar problem in Laurel?
As for me, I have moved all my shopping and entertaining to Columbia. To date Laurel businesses have lost over $8,000 in business. Iím not happy to leave Laurel but I do not want to be monitored and automatically controlled by government.
