How about asking the residents, referendum style? We are the ones who pay the taxes and will have to live with the added noise and disruption. My question is that this is prime land, almost right on the water, and will always back up to the woods, you see all the McMansions on Brooklynn Bridge so why would our elected officials give away a prime taxable location to a tax exempt entity? I'd rather see another subdivision of taxable constituents than a huge, monolithic community ruining church go up. Doesn't sound like our elected officials are looking out for their constituents. Seriously the Giant in Burtonsville Plaza is now vacant and there is plenty of room to expand out in the strip malls other vacant stores so why not move into there?
