Sounds like a botched "bust" and an excessively fast pursuit in a pedestrian area. No one wants crack dealers on the streets, but these over-zealous police actions have to stop. 50 grams of crack is not going to endanger the number of people that such a high speed chase would. These citizens didn't ask to be part of the "drug war," but lo and behold, the police made sure they were. Enough with the "cowboys with badges" mentality.

Oh man, as much as I would like to disagree with you... I can't. The police blew this one badly. They knew the perp, they could have got him some other time. Now there are two people who have been badly injured, one who lost a leg. All I would like to see is the police get better inofrmation and be able to end the lives of these drug pushers. Maybe the best way is to decriminalize the drugs, sell them in a "drugstore", take the profit out of the gangs hands and put it in the hands of anentity that will use the money wisely [therefore it can't be in the hands of any politicians... Democrats or Republicans].

More victims of drug violence because as a society we're just too dumb to see the benefits of legalization. Apparently, we're afraid because making drugs legal would be the same as saying we condone the use of them. Alcohol, however, is just fine and even advertised on tv and billboards as we all know. Tell me, what is the difference? But good thing I guess, that the police aren't chasing down folks after they buy some moonshine and injuring more innocent people.

Of course it is the fault of the police! Of course they caused this accident, not the bruther driving the car illegally. Of course the police made the car hit the two victims, not the dirtbag driving it. Of course it is the fault of the police who cut off the dude's legs, not the fault of the terrible felon driving the car. Acutally, it is all Bush's fault. If he wouldn't have cut all the funding for black folks to learn driver's training in the 80's than they wudda couldda mightta been better drivers. Damn Bushie, damn him.

Why waste taxpayer dollars to send a black gang member to prison? We know he did something, he's a gang member. Summary execution is a fast and simple answer. Your in a gang? no problem, the police have itchy trigger fingers anyway. Let them just start target practice on black and latino urban youth that are involved with gangs. We all win !
well genius, in this case the cops itchy trigger fingers were behind a steering wheel and their foot was flooring the gas pedals, which lead to a wreckless crash that cost people their limbs and almost their lives....you're an idiot!

Who apologized for this guy? There is plenty of blame to go around all the way up to the president. Our utter failure in this drug war has cost us millions of lives. And for what?

THAT'S IT?!?!?!
Those poor kids lives were made immeasurably pain-filled by that scumbag's irresponsible, illegal actions, and he gets supervised release.
What a gigantic crock of shit that is. Unbelivable. Incomprehensible. Most of all, sad.

I wonder about one thing if all drugs were legalized. Who is going to pick up the tab for the people who will choose to be incapacitated by daily drug use? Are you willing to work with or have work done by somebody who is high on a daily basis? If drugs were leglaized, would you tolerate restrictions on casual use in the workplace or would that infringe on personal freedom?

Agreed, how in the world does the sentence even come close to being a penalty/deterrent? The person injured should be able to have some say in the judgment, like say, 35 years a leg....plus selling crack, that's another 50 years...no parole. Period. As there is no chance of him getting out instead of prison we set up a huge camp someplace....of course when we do that we are being cruel....The Brits did it years ago, shipped people out. Some made it and became decent people, most did not......Maybe we could set up a colony on Mars.....

Isn't there a lawsuit against the city for the injuries suffered by these people. I seem to remember seeing something about that. Did they settle out of court? These kids definitely deserve some kind of compensation for their debilitating injuries which were no fault of their own. Many state have restrictions on these high speed chases due to accidents like this.

Well hang on a moment, first of all St Paul as a city is getting worse by the day. We could rename it to St Cesspool. Now this young Jones is no rellie of mine, and I left Rondo long ago. I do not even go back near there. Matter of fact all non gang members should move out and let the gang bangers just run the city. Make big new signs " Welcome to St Cess Paul. No .22 cal guns allowed must be .32 or more."
Secondly, St Paul really has no jobs left for people to work.( might be a few cop jobs open soon.)
Thirdly, ever notice the out of state plates that come here but never leave ? We could have check ins on I-94 and I-90.

Another friend of Melvin Carter. Hey Melvin, when are you going to do something about the scum like this?

Oh, I forgot. He's one of the brothers so he is the victim.
