REPORT: Alarming jump in Minn. gang numbers

http://ksax.com/article/stories/S775845.shtml...

Even as violent crime drops across the U.S., there has been an alarming jump in gang activity in the Twin Cities and across the state, according to newly-compiled figures to be presented soon to state lawmakers.

The statistics, gathered annually to inform elected officials and policy makers, show self-described gangs have more than doubled in a little over a year, bolstered by an additional 2,000 recruits.

In all, the number of known and documented gang members statewide is up 12 percent, representing 16, 746 people compared to 14,831 in 2007, according to figures provided by the Metro Gang Strike Force. In addition, the number of self-described gangs has jumped 159 percent since 2007--from 264 to 603.

MS-13 gang puts out hit on ICE agent
(NY DAILY NEWS, November 4, 2009) via POLICEONE.com ^| November 06, 2009 | By John Marzulli, New York Daily News

New York Daily News

SNIPPET: "NEW YORK — El Salvadoran leaders of the MS-13 gang allegedly put out a contract on the federal agent responsible for a crackdown on its New York factions, the Daily News has learned.

The brazen plot to assassinate the unidentified Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent was revealed in an arrest warrant for reputed gang member Walter (Duke) Torres.

Torres tipped authorities to the plan after he and four other MS-13 members were stopped by NYPD detectives for hassling passersby on Northern Blvd. in Queens last month."

How about a shoot-on-sight order against MS-13 members? That would be "brazen".

Database program nets arrests of 22,000 illegal immigrants with criminal records

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/n...

More than 22,000 illegal immigrants with criminal charges or convictions have been arrested in Texas through a 1-year-old program that links FBI and federal immigration databases, Homeland Security officials said Thursday.

About 12 percent of them, or 2,700 people, were charged or convicted of what authorities call "level one" crimes such as murder, rape, kidnapping or narcotics violations with a sentence of more than one year.

(snip)

Under the new system, fingerprints are run simultaneously through a national database to check criminal history and through a Homeland Security database to check the person's immigration status. All those arrested in jurisdictions using Secure Communities will have fingerprints checked in both databases, Homeland Security officials said.

"A key point is we do this for everyone," Morton said. "There is no distinction between citizen and noncitizen."

Morton said such blanket use would reduce racial profiling.

From my visual perspective of the neighborood today isn't one that's in ruins, but poor excuses of inhabitants. To be an insensitive person I could hope the bad folk pick one another off, and at times I think could there be an outreach program of sorts? My best guess at the current issue is the cultural difference and their inability to assimilate to American Society. Whereas the children are left without an identity once they seperate themselves from their parents ideology. Then they seem to pick up the cool gansta mask and the downward spiral begins. Which we see in the article.

Mayor Coleman keeps St. Paul a sanctuary city- 60,000 mexican illegals.

AND- the Mexican Embassy is on the East Side, sure blacks might commit crime too, but on the East Side it is the illegals that have really ticked it up with theft, arson, vandalism, and violence. Since July, 3 hostage situations on Payne Avenue by mexicans. On my block a violent rape across the street, and then the swat team was here for another illegal family down the block, all in 3 weeks. the garages getting burned down again this summer, the word is that many of them eyewitnesses see mexicans out there- my neighbor found a box of spanish items including a spanish CD next to his burnt down garage.

If Saint Paul enforced truancy laws strong, and dropped the sancturary city B.S., the eastside would only have the black and asian gangs again to deal with- which wasn't nearly as bad as this is now.

Crime has gotten really bad here on the East Side. It is actually out of control- worse than I have ever seen it. Maybe because of double digit percentages of unemployment in st. paul? Or could have something to do with the fact that most of St. Paul's 60,000 illegals live on the east side now? they are undocumented and can't get real jobs so go back to being banditos in the harsh economic climate?
It's bad, and city hall doesn't care.
They are illegals; why does the city have to care? The city should care about it's natural born citizens. Enough is enough; send them back.

Why should victims of self inflicted gang shootings and "Home boy" activity have to pay for the hundreds of thousands in medical expenses for their recovery and many times after care for the rest of their lives? It is their God given right to "bang" bust caps and all of the fun stuff.

Gangs should look into purchasing health care as a big collective, Obama is on the right track with that there health care gig. Gives new meaning to the words "got you covered"

This is what the Democratic Party wants, undocumented, non-citizens being able to vote.

This week Anne Carroll, DFL, school board member pushed to remove the requirement of "citizen" for school district committees. So in our saintly city you don't need to be a citizen to serve on taxpayer funded school committees.

Sure all you taxpayers don't you pay enough taxes?

Who cares if you are a US Citizen, you don't pay enough.

I think you hit on it, that unemployment and low income cause crime, however you just sound ignorant blaming the crime on "illegals" Now that's one more thing that's their fault? Get serious, I'm willing to bet my house that most of the crime in that area is committed by fine, upstanding, naturalized citizens of the US. Illegals usually TRY to keep a job, more so than the welfare rats I used to work with over there who only work long enough to get an extension on their benifits.

The more we blame the wrong source for all of our problems, the more we keep the problem going. If you keep blaming illegals for all of it, you overlook the REAL source of those problems. Unemployment, low income, high welfare rates all lead to high crime. Even when there are no illegals around.

The insurance industry estimates that over 70% of arson on residential properties is the fault of the homeowner. Either accident, or attempt to collect insurance monies. These types of crimes usually go up in a recession. That means for every 10 cases of arson, 7 are probably the fault of a homeowner.

And yes, if an area has a higher % of any group, the % of crime committed in that area by that group will be higher. If an area is 90% white, about 90% of the crime committed in that area is going to be from white people.

BTW, if you commit a serious enough crime, you DO get deported, even in St. Paul. Sanctuary doesn't mean from everything. I think their point was to not waste cop's time or harrass all hispanic citizens with immigration status if they simply got pulled over for a traffic ticket.

I would have to agree with you on that point, just shoot all MS13 gang members on sight, get rid of them all. It would be an inexpensive solution to the problem of MS13.

However, I'd like to bring up 1. They are a US born gang, the gang started in CA, not in El Salvador. 2. The average Salvadorian wants nothing to do with this gang. They have homes and families just like us. This US born gang now forces them to ship their kids to the US to avoid forced recruitment. 3. The name "Walter" doesn't bring up the image of a first generation immigrant, I'd like to know if the subject of this story is a natural born citizen. Chances are, he is.

Dont care what people say, if the big boys would quit worrying about their pride and political future, the GSF would be on this like white on rice. You people traded policy and procedure violations for police protection, what a shame.
