After being a City Council person for 10-years, it's a step down for Rosie Wolford to run for Mayor.

She's probably a Republican and should mirror the path of Kim Ward and try for a position that matters, like County Commissioner.

Or, Rosie should become a Board Member for an organization that actually does things, as opposed to the Mayor of Latrobe, who, sadly, has not much to do, and no weight or influence.

I'll vote for her if she continues to spur growth in the 6th Ward area, finish the street lights, the walking path to St. Vincent, and generally beautify the gateway to Latrobe.

Isn't the beautifucation of Lloyd Avenue a 20-year-old project?

-----Shouldn't it be finished after 20-years?

How do decorative street lights spur growth?

How does a walking path spur growth?

How can much of anything "beautify" a run-down street like Lloyd Avenue, warehouses, dilapidated homes?

Wouldn't it be better to spur economic growth in 6th Ward?

Wouldn't it be better to spur building of new homes, and rehab of old homes, and to assist people with low funds to rehab their own homes?

A group called Homes Build Hope dumped a bunch of $$$ on Lloyd Ave a few years ago to help the financially strapped. Look how the areas has benefited, no property tax and more free sh*t for people who never did a days work to earn it.

Tell me no more free rides and get my vote. You want to dump $$$ into these pet projects like walking paths and other nonsense forget it.

"Homes Build Hope" is bascially a -- JOKE -- for the town of Latrobe. "Homes Build Hope" is a subsidiary of the assively successful Adelphoi Village now in 17-states.

What's sad about this once local philanthropy for kids developing a "home"-bassed "help" program, is that almost NO LATROBEANS get help from the 30-units.

-----A lot of people from throughout Westmoreland County come to the 2BR units that rent for $560/month. They come with their Section 8 vouchers.

-----Yet, there are people "in need" in Latrobe that sure would have benefited far more had the $3,000,000 spent on those 30-units been spent on them, LOCALLY!

The units are "tax credit" units, so the owners -- Homes Build Hope -- get tax credits yearsly, and got a refund on building price.

While the units are aesthetically one of the better building projects in Latrobe -- since they do indeed mirror some of the old homes in 6th Ward, the truth is:

-----building new structures in between bad does nothing to make the bad look good!

-----That thorofare should have been bulldozed for less than $3,000,000 and the upper side of Lloyd, toward the tracks, should have been left open so everyone driving into Latrobe could see the magnificent trains roll past.

-----The lower side of Lloyd could have been developed with lovely homes, rhythically one right after the other.

As it stands now, the money is wasted.

The street lamps glowing on an awful lot fo run down mill houses is not beautifucation in my book.

Where did all that money go from the 1990s? efforts to turn arround that part of Latrobe?

If I could, I would vote for Rosie. I don't live with the city limits so I won't be able to cast a vote. But I do agree, I think being the mayor of Latrobe is a waste of Rosie's talents. I think she should shoot for bigger and better things like county commissioner or even more. I'm not sure what the mayor of a small town like Latrobe actually does. Perhaps it is more important for her to remain on council. But, if she feels this is the role that will help revitalize Latrobe, then I would vote for her in a heart beat. She is a hard working individual and is willing to take the extra step to get things done.

When Rosie is 65 let her come back to Latrobe to be Mayor. Now, she's young and now is the time for her to leave Latrobe (figuratively speaking), branch out, and really use what she knows. The 50s are a person's most powerful years. It's no time to be the paradde-hand-waving Mayor of a small town.

Enough of this already. This boro council is the worst we have ever seen. Time to vote in real business people who actually understand how to run a business. We've watched their decisions and frown. Neither she nor anyone else on council is qualified from a business standpoint to "run" a town. This is the best Latrobe has to offer??? And , by the way, any former mayors? We're still laughing or saddened. Alas, Latrobe, it is your destiny. Whether a former mayor, or one of these failed politicians, sorry to see this happen to Latrobe. But no one who IS capable will run after what they have seen. Good luck "lemmings".
