Why isn't there just a charge for each household to put out 2 bags of trash once a week. If there is more than 2 then pay for a sticker for the excess items. So if you generate extra trash you pay extra and if you don't you don't have to be bothered with the stupid stickers. Anyone know of any other towns that use them? If some low income families didn't have to pay for the friggin stickers, they could throw out some of the trash in their yards and make the neighborhood look better for all. The stickers deter you from cleaning up your yards.

I agree with "just me"...I believe people's yards/porches would be cleared out if it weren't for these stickers..once a month you can get rid of big items ...however these items also require the damn "stickers"....Let's pay one flat fee....and forget the damn stickers...of Mayberry

I agree with "just me" and "rosebuddy"... The trash pick up system here in Latrobe is historic, and not in a good way. I cannot seem to understand why this town is so fearful of making positive changes. The stickers are a waste! I think everyone should pay a quarterly fee for trash removal, plain and simple. I agree that having one designated day out of the month to dispose of larger items would be great. I don't know about you, but I hate walking down the street and seeing junk and trash. Maybe if we got with the times and improved our trash system to be more efficient, easier, and greener, we would see more improvements in the cleanliness of our town. Latrobe is beautiful. I would just like to see it a little neater and cleaner.

I agree 1000% with "PositiveChanges". We pay a garbage bill quarterly and stickers to boot. Some people really can't afford stickers it's difficult enough for them to pay their bill. City should provide trash bins 2 per household and have picked up, "like real city folk"..do away with the stickers and of course we also have to purchase garbage bags which are costly. DO AWAY WITH STICKERS GIVE US BINS...AND CHARGE AN EXTRA $30 A YEAR....all are happy. Well i've decided to buy 55 gallon garbage bags and load em up and put my stupid sticker on it. Maybe they'll get tired of lifting it...

Great idea, Rose Buddy! I am going to get the largest trash bags I can find, and start using those.

I still just can't understand why this town won't get with the times a little bit. It's almost as if they get joy out of making everything as complicated as possible. I guess our city officials are content with medocrity since their actions, or lack there of, show that they won't do much in the way of helping this town evolve for the better. So disappointing!

I'm a little tired of the misinformation, so let me set the record straight. I few years ago the city talked about doing away with the garbage stickers for just the reasons you stated and the outcry from the public was unbelievable. And here is why. If the City were to eliminate the garbage stickers, then they'd have to increase the garbage fees. So a single person living alone that generates one bag of garbage would be charged the same as someone who has a family of 6. Obviously a family of 6 generates more garbage than one. So everyone is charged a flat rate, and the difference becomes a user fee. The more garbage you generate, the more you pay.

It's garbage, not rocket surgery. Why wouldn't you use the largest bags you can find? At $10 bucks a pop, it doesn't matter how many people are creating garbage in the home. Make the stickers work for you!

Utilizing the 2 aformentioned post's, does 98 year old great grandma not pay school taxes even though she has not had kids in school for quite some time? Curious?

I think the weight limit is 40 lbs. per bag. Otherwise forget about the GIANT BAGS .

stuff the bigguns full. never had them not pick up a huge stuffed bag. i am a single male end of my 20's. i use one sticker, for one big bag(drum liner size at least),that i throw the homes small 13 gal sizes into until when stuffed, and fill one every 2-3 weeks. works for me.

Well....Cherrie...where did you get the "garbage guidelines"? Did i miss getting the bylaws with my bill? Not aware of a weight limit. Sum, I don't know about you but we have trees to trim and grass cuttings so "one bag" won't cut it. Well another option for single people living alone they can "opt" out of the flat fee and continue to use the sticker program...

So you are angry at the city for their method of trash collection? And you want to show them by making your bags heavy as can be? So that the workers of a totally different company have to work harder then they should? I fail to understand your logic.

You are implying Allied Waste and the government of Latrobe are connected. You are vastly misinformed.
