If we are paying for Latrobe Bulletin to report the news in Latrobe, why arent they investigating this? Or did I miss it in the paper????
Well, would you rather have a hastily-put-together report without all the facts, or would you rather have something published, albeit a day late or two, that might ACTUALLY CONTAIN THE FACTS? Trust me, the staff at the Bulletin know what they're doing, and just another hastily-published report would just add more inacuracies and fodder to the hatemills of boads like this.
As for reporting news in Latrobe, I dare you to tell me you get more Latrobe news in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the Blairsville Dispatch, the Ligonier Echo, or anywhere else.

I'd like to know why The Latrobe Bulletin has NOT reported that City Brewing is near declaring bankruptcy, employees at the plant were asked to take pay cuts and they froze the 401K payments at the plant. Employees are being forced to work 12 hour shifts only a handful of them are now working. I know this to be true as I know many of the current workers. yet when The Latrobe Bulletin reports on City Brewing it's always how well they are doing. When the real truth is they are not doing well at all.
It's time The Latrobe Bulletin speaks the truth about City Brewing instead of telling untruths.
Do you mean that our Gov. Stupid hasn't stopped by with an over sized cardboard check to bail them out?
He gave $2.8 million to The Boston Brewery in our area a few months ago.

I cannot believe our NEW Miss Mayor wanted to put
Mr. Macaroni back on the Municipal Authority.
Do these people ever GO AWAY so that this town can
move on! I am sorry I voted for her.

There are way more important things to think about
in this town than the cost of a newspaper.
Empty stores, drugs, slum landlords that allow these drug dealers to operate. I have to wonder
if these landlords pay the taxes on these
dillapadated buildings "Stricklers". These are
the problems we need to address, finding ways to
bring new businesses into this dying town.
Finding ways to deal with a counsel that does
nothing constructive.

Funny you should say the Trib. My bird gets the news from the trib, at the bottom of its cage!

Enough is RIGHT wrote:
Finally someone speaks the truth!!! I worked there as a part timer 15 years ago and made nearly $16.00/hr. If the work lasted over 8 hours I got time and a half. Almost $24.00/hr.! When my machine went down and I tried to do some cleaning up around it, I got yelled at by the supervisor!!??? He told me that I was taking another man's job. I told him I was just keeping busy and he told me to go home and wash my car, then come back and punch in at shifts end. I couldn't believe it. All the other jobs I had were time and a half over 40/hrs. and keeping busy was the right thing to do. I even knew guys who went to the gym and bragged about Rolling Rock paying them to work out. I ask you all, if you were paying someone hourly to cut your grass or build your house would you like it if they were screwing off on your time? I wouldn't want that workforce either. Can any of you guess why everything is made in China? There is very little work ethic left in America. I went back to school, got a 4 year degree and an entry level job for a lot less than these people were paid, and I work twice as hard. I have been able to climb the latter. Now I got guys filing grievences on me because I pick up a tool to fix a machine to get it running again. If the company can't make a profit, then there are no jobs. You people wouldn't want a slacker working for you, but you want to work (or should I say be employed by them.)
This is quite interesting. June of 2008, almost 2 years ago now. A man, long time resident of Latrobe, speaks up, speaks the truth and NO ONE comments, congratulate or even criticizes him. But all these other people do nothing but complain and whine about this and that, things none of them can do anything about nor really know the truth about any of these situations. If you pay attention these are the comments that people can NOT get away from. But people speak the truth, make sense, and really have something interesting to say and no one can comment back.
So this "Topix" is really a place for gossipers? Instead of a place people can discuss what really matters?
